| SCHEDULE E, PART I, LINE 3 | ALL PAMPHLETS, BROCHURES AND RECRUITING MATERIALS CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING LANGUAGE, "ALBION COLLEGE IS COMMITTED TO A POLICY OF EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AND NON-DISCRIMINATION ON THE BASIS OF SEXUAL ORIENTATION AND OF RACE, COLOR, NATIONAL ORIGIN, RELIGION, SEX, AGE OR DISABILITY, AS PROTECTED BY LAW, IN ALL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES, ADMISSION OF STUDENTS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT." |
| SCHEDULE E, PART I, LINE 6 | TITLE IV AID FROM THE FEDERAL DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION (SEOG, PELL, PERKINS LOANS, AND DIRECT LENDING LOANS) AND MICHIGAN GIFT AND MICHIGAN PROMISE FROM THE STATE OF MICHIGAN. |
| LINE 6: | ON MARCH 11, 2020, THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION DECLARED THE OUTBREAK OF A RESPIRATORY DISEASE CAUSED BY A NEW CORONAVIRUS A PANDEMIC, NOW KNOWN AS COVID-19. IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, GOVERNMENTS HAVE TAKEN PREVENTATIVE OR PROTECTIVE ACTIONS, SUCH AS TEMPORARY CLOSURES OF NON-ESSENTIAL BUSINESSES AND "SHELTER-AT-HOME" GUIDELINES FOR INDIVIDUALS. AS A RESULT, THE GLOBAL ECONOMY HAS BEEN NEGATIVELY AFFECTED, AND THE COLLEGE'S OPERATIONS WERE ALSO IMPACTED. DUE TO THE "SHELTER-AT-HOME" GUIDELINES DURING APRIL AND MAY 2020, THE COLLEGE SHIFTED TO A REMOTE ONLINE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT AND CLOSED ON-CAMPUS HOUSING. THE COLLEGE ISSUED ROOM AND BOARD REFUNDS TO STUDENTS. THE COLLEGE ALSO HAD MANY ATHLETIC EVENTS, SUMMER CAMPS AND CONFERENCES CANCELLED OR TEMPORARILY POSTPONED UNTIL THE "SHELTER-AT-HOME" GUIDELINES WERE REDUCED OR REMOVED, WHICH RESULTED IN LOST REVENUES FOR THE COLLEGE FOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2020. EMPLOYEES WERE ENCOURAGED TO WORK FROM HOME AND CRISIS PAY WAS PAID TO INDIVIDUALS WHO COULD NOT WORK BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC. OTHER IMPACTS THE COLLEGE HAS SEEN SAVINGS FROM BUILDING OPERATIONS AND EVALUATION OF ADDITIONAL COSTS FOR PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT SUPPLIES FOR STAFF, FACULTY, AND STUDENTS TO PREPARE FOR ON-CAMPUS EDUCATION FOR THE FALL 2020 SEMESTER. TO OFFSET THE FINANCIAL IMPACT TO STUDENTS AND THE LOSSES INCURRED BY THE COLLEGE DUE TO THE DISRUPTION CAUSED BY COVID-19, THE COLLEGE RECEIVED GRANTS AND OTHER RELIEF PRIMARILY FROM THE CORONAVIRUS AID, RELIEF, AND ECONOMIC SECURITY (CARES) ACT. THE COLLEGE WAS ALLOCATED HIGHER EDUCATION EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND (HEERF) GRANTS TOTALING $1,831,231, OF WHICH 50 PERCENT WAS REQUIRED TO BE GIVEN DIRECTLY TO STUDENTS. FOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2020, THE COLLEGE RECOGNIZED HEERF GRANT REVENUE TOTALING $1,438,400. IN ADDITION, THE COLLEGE WAS APPROVED ON JUNE 23, 2020, THE COLLEGE RECEIVED A PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM (PPP) TERM NOTE THROUGH FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF MICHIGAN OF APPROXIMATELY $6,008,000. THE NOTE WAS ISSUED PURSUANT TO THE CORONAVIRUS AID, RELIEF, AND ECONOMIC SECURITY (CARES) ACT'S PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM. THE NOTE STRUCTURE REQUIRED COLLEGE OFFICIALS TO CERTIFY CERTAIN STATEMENTS THAT PERMITTED THE COLLEGE TO QUALIFY FOR THE LOAN AND PROVIDES LOAN FORGIVENESS FOR A PORTION UP TO ALL OF THE BORROWED AMOUNT IF THE COLLEGE USES THE LOAN PROCEEDS FOR THE PERMITTED LOAN PURPOSES DESCRIBED IN THE NOTE AGREEMENT; THE COLLEGE WAS NOTIFIED THAT THIS FUNDING WAS FORGIVEN ON JUNE 16, 2021. THE COLLEGE ALSO RECEIVED ADDITIONAL GRANTS AND OTHER RELIEF PRIMARILY FROM THE CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE AND RELIEF SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS ACT (CRRSAA) PROVIDING ROUGHLY $916,000 DIRECTLY TO STUDENTS AND $1,814,000 IN INSTITUTIONAL RELIEF ALONG WITH $89,000 IN HEERF SIP FUNDING FOR COVID-19 RELATED LOSSES AND EXPENSES. IN TOTAL, THE FUNDING FROM THESE SOURCES TOTALED $9,200,000 AND $1,438,000 FOR WHICH THE COLLEGE HAS RECORDED REVENUE IN THE FORM OF GOVERNMENT APPROPRIATIONS OF $8,100,000 AND $719,000 FOR THE YEARS ENDED JUNE 30, 2021 AND 2020. THE COLLEGE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE DIRECT STUDENT PAYMENTS OF $1,100,000 AND $719,000 AS REVENUE BUT RATHER AS A PASS THROUGH AS THE COLLEGE DOES NOT DIRECTLY BENEFIT FROM THESE PAYMENTS. THE SEVERITY OF THE CONTINUED IMPACT DUE TO COVID- 19 ON THE COLLEGE'S FINANCIAL CONDITION, RESULTS OF OPERATIONS OR CASH FLOWS WILL DEPEND ON A NUMBER OF FACTORS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE DURATION AND SEVERITY OF THE PANDEMIC AND THE EXTENT AND SEVERITY OF THE IMPACT ON THE COLLEGE'S COMMUNITY, ALL OF WHICH ARE UNCERTAIN AND CANNOT BE PREDICTED. |
