What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? To encourage and provide sailing education, opportunities, and activities to the Hawaii Island community. To continue our ongoing relationship with Hawaii County Parks and Rec Dept to maintain sailing facility. To promote safe boating/sailing for all through marine safety classes and sailing instruction, especially inclduing rules of the road. To establish a workin reltaionship and spirit of cooperation with the US Coast Guard and Auxiliary. To organize and sponsor regularly scheduled beach and shore cleanup activities. To perpetuate and promote all forms of boating whether recreational or commercial. To work with other local and state boating associations, educational institutions and yacht clubs to provide educational opportunities beyond what we are capable of offering on our own and to help them enrich their own educational programs. To maintain a fleet of sailing vessels for instruction and use of members. Keep the club accessible with low coat membership, inclusivity, activity.

The board is in the process of filing new state and IRS documents relating to tax status of the corporation. The time and resources of the board were employed in those efforts when it came to our attention that this is the first year our gross receipts exceeded the amount to file a 990N. This is our first year of becoming aware that we needed to file at Form 990EZ.
