Explanation:

The IRS Approved the extension of Form 990 for FY ending 9/30/2020 to be filed on or before 8/15/21. It was mailed and received by the IRS on 4/28/21. The Assn received letter LTR2694C dated 11/2/21 indicating it must be e-filed to be accepted. The software program used, Proseries has an e-file component but it is forced to a calendar year, and we are on a fiscal year. When e-filing with Proseries for FY 20, it was kicked out because the IRS had said it was already e-filed. Was I am sure just going of the form year and not the FY. I was able to find an alternative, Form 990 Online and did file the FY 2021 990, which was accepted. In June 2022. This delima prompted me to send a letter to the IRS explaining the situation and I received response LTR2645C dated September 28, 2022 asking for more time to review. Given all this, I have today e-filed the FY 2020 return - please help in not accessing our Association a late fee. I did file in time initially but it was mailed, and a software problem with Proseries and the IRS thinking I had already filed the return created this mess. FY 2019 and 2021 have been filed, this should fill in the year.
