Return Reference Explanation
X 2 The Department is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501c4 of the Internal Revenue Code. The Department is also exempt from Texas state franchise taxes. Provisions for income taxes on unrelated business income are made when required for income from non-exempt activities and paid during the year. Additionally, the Department has been determined by the Internal Revenue Service not to be a private foundation within the meaning of Section 509a of the Code. Therefore, no provision for income taxes is included in the financial statements.
