Form 990-EZ, Header, Line B I initially filed this 990-EZ by sending it as a paper form in the United States Mail. It was received by the IRS on May 9, 2022. The return was sent back to me saying that I had to file the form electronically. So I'm now sending the 990-EZ form electronically.

Dear Sir / Madam: I am writing to respectfully request a waiver for any penalty for either not including all the required information or for filing late. I did in fact submit the 990 EZ-Form on time, on May 9, 2022, but I made the mistake of filing this Report by mailing a paper copy. I failed to realize that the IRS changed their policy and that all 990 Forms must be filed electronically as of July 1, 2021. I am the sole staff-person for this organization so I, and the Board of Director Members, were grappling with the impact of COVID on our work and our personal lives. The COVID pandemic added a huge level of anxiety to my work. As a result of the challenges of working under COVID, I missed the new rule from the Internal Revenue Service that all 990 Forms are to be filed electronically after July 1, 202. Therefore I went ahead and filed a paper copy. As a nation-wide disaster, COVID affected all parts of society in the United States, including business, non-profit organizations and even government departments. As a result, communication was disrupted which had an impact on the normal course of my work with Renewable Energy in Michigan, in terms of not properly filing the 990 EZ-Form electronically and not providing all the information required in the Form. But as I indicated above, I did in fact file this Report on time so I my actions were done in good faith. For these reasons, I sincerely believe I have met the threshold of establishing 'reasonable cause' for the waiving of any penalties, due to the disruption brought about by the impact of COVID. I respectfully request that you waive any penalties for the failure to properly file the Renewable Energy in Michigan Form 990 EZ electronically. Thank you very much.
