| Part III, line 28 (continued): | GLOBAL BANJARA BAPTIST MINISTRIES, INDIAANNUAL REPORT 2021 Funds raised by Global Banjara Baptist Ministries International support Christian education and outreach carried out by Global Banjara Baptist Ministries (GBBM) in Hyderabad, India. GBBMs activities in 2020 are summarized as follows. The year 2021 was another challenging year for the world, India, and the Banjara people as all were impacted by COVID and lots of other issues tied to global warming, politics, supply chain, and war. I. School Project - Aletheia Banjara SchoolStudents were away from the direct in-classroom schooling for 18 months from March 2020 to August 2021. During this time, Aletheia teachers went to villages to teach the children. Community leaders appreciated this daring and loving act of Aletheia during the pandemic when everyone was hiding from going into public. This activity has gained Aletheia a great amount of goodwill from the community which allows us to minister the spiritual needs of the students. Aletheia is serving over four hundred children this year. Aletheia Banjara School (ABS) is a landmark in Gurrapu Thanda and was inaugurated in July 2009. Pastor K. Srinivas Naik was born in Gurrapu Thanda where there was no school. He had to go to a school far away from his village. He successfully completed 10th Grade. He desired to become an engineer after completing the Pre-University Course. During his study, Pastor Naik met with a Christian family who supported his studies and introduced him to church and ultimately lead him to accept Jesus Christ and become a Christian. Pastor Naik did not forget his past and fellow-Banjara children who neither had proper education nor were aware of the truth that Jesus Christ is the Savior. The Banjara were engrossed in weird superstitions and animistic beliefs. They were illiterate, nomadic tribes, very backward and economically weak. He realized that it was all because of a lack of education that the community remained down-trodden. Pastor Naik and Global Banjara Baptist Ministries (GBBM) believed that only education would be a powerful tool for the economic and social uplift of the community. More importantly, it would enable them to reason and to understand the Gospel. With a clear vision from God, and unflinching faith in Him, GBBM laid the foundation stone for its first school on 4 Dec 2005 at GurrapuThanda. ABS has successfully completed twelve academic years and is in the middle of its thirteenth year. The School has introduced many unique features for its students, which no other school in the district has. These are apart from the regular activities that a school should have. Let us briefly discuss some of these features. After a long closedown, the school was reopened in September 2021 and continued till the end with few lockdowns in between. Teachers Visiting Community:Due to the pandemic, all schools were closed. Children were at home while parents wnet to work in the fields. ABS has taken a bold step of going to villages to help the children with activity sheets prepared well beforehand. Only ABS has done such an activity in the whole district. This has gained us a great favour from the community. It has showed them how much ABS cared their children in spite of threats of the virus. As usual, ABS encouraged education for girls: emphasizing English; conducting competitions in sports & games; literary activities; teaching students how to maintain health and hygiene; providing safe drinking water, providing a power-packed drink at 10:10 AM & nutritious mid-day meal for lunch; mentoring through Character Building Classes; promoting eco-friendly environment by planting thousands of trees in the locality; observed Indian Republic Day, Independence Day, Teachers Day, Children's Day, Christmas and many other special days. II. HealthMedical Camp at ABS was conducted as part of annual medical screening of all students at Aletheia. General checkups, eye tests, ear cleaning, and dental checkups were done on every student. Medical & Awareness Camps were conducted in several regions where GBBM is active in ministry. HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns helped many victims to get treatment and counseling. Thirty five (35) individuals are receiving regular medicines for HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis (TB). Supply of Vitamin D3:GBBM has supplied Vitamin D3 2K doses to children, and 60K to all our volunteers from each village, missionaries, and teaching and non-teaching staff. This is helping us develop immunity in our bodies to protect ourselves from Covid-19. III. Farmers TrainingMr. C. V. Abraham, one of the Board Members of GBBM India, has been a great blessing to the small and uneducated farmers. Seminars, field visits and help on phone services were provided to over a hundred Banjara farmers of two regions. Church Planting Activities:274 villages served / 42,644 people heard the Gospel / 14,827 people heard the Gospel for the first time / 1,264 people accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour/ 2,718 children attended ministry programs / 68 active worship loacation have fewer than 10 believers / 53 active workship locations have more than 10 believers / 1,613 believers attended worship in one week/ raised 229,359 Indiana Rupees / 53 pastor assistants supported / 13 new worship centers opened / 211 baptisms were performed V. Activities GBBM Staff ChristmasGBBM Staff Christmas celebrations were held at GurrapuThandaon 14 Dec 2021. GBBM Board Members, Pastors and a few Aletheia Banjara School (ABS) staff participated in the event. Christmas gifts were presented to Pastors and their families. ABS ChristmasAletheia Banjara School Christmas celebrations were conducted on 23 Dec 2021 at ABS. It was a joyful occasion with the active participation of teachers, administrative staff and school children. Singing, dancing, skits, choreographed dramas depicting the birth of Jesus Christ were presented. Parents and guests were impressed by the performance of the children. All the students and staff were given Christmas gifts. Christmas CelebrationsChristmas celebrations organized by the GBBM Pastors were celebrated in 70 villages/thandas and 4,757 people participated. Local leaders, elected representatives and officials attended. Blankets, footwear, sweaters and clothes were given to widows, orphans and the poor. Christmas carols, special skits and choreographed presentations were received with enthusiasm. Children Party ClubsWhile conducting Christmas Celebrations, special emphasis was placed on children. Special events on the birth of Christ with songs and dramas were presented to them. Nearly 3,841 children gladly received Christmas gifts. Baal Brigade (BB) IndiaBoys Brigade, the uniformed organization for children, was founded by Sir William Alexander Smith in Scotland, UK in 1883. The concepts of the Boys and Girls Scouts are based on the principles of the Boys Brigade. Its moto Sure & Steadfast stems from the biblical verse, which hope we have as an anchor of the soul. (Hebrews 6:19). The Object of The Boys Brigade is The advancement of Christs Kingdom among Boys and Girls and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect and all that tends towards a true Christian Character (it is renamed as Baal Brigade India with the inclusion of girls). The key verse is: Luke 2:52 where its written, Jesus increased in Wisdom and stature, favor with God and Man which covers all the aspects of life. The progress of the children is rewarded with badges and all badge works cover the aspects, namely, Educational, Physical, Spiritual and Social advancement. The aims of The Baal Brigade India are: (1) To train boys and girls to become loyal and responsible citizens; (2) To romote physical fitness and develop their leadership potential; and (3) To help boys and girls to develop and grow in Christian Character. The ministry of Boys Brigade (BB) came to India in 2015 (in fact, history shows that it came in 1894 itself and continued until Indian Independence). Reverend Roger Ong, a Mission Volunteer of BB Singapore, and Mr. Jason, from Hong Kong, visited our school and trained the students and teachers, the various aspects of Boys Brigade drills and other activities. Thus the 1st Telangana Company was formed. Student leaders and teacher-officers were given additional Basic Training Course in June 2015 followed by Advanced Officers Training Course in October. The first Boys Brigade parade was held on 16 December 2015 with 96 boys and girls. An MOU was signed in April 2016 by Mr. Francis Chiong, Executive Secretary, BB Asia. The Baal Brigade India activities will be conducted in our school on Saturdays along with character building classes. Ball Brigade and character building classes will complement each other in building the character of the students in a Christian way. Ball Brigade will no doubt enrich the character building syllabus. The Baal Brigade Company of our school is the first one in India and hopefully will pi |
