| General explanation attachment | NJ AID FOR ANIMALS IS AN ALL-VOLUNTEER ANIMAL CHARITY SINCE 2005 ENRICHING THE LIFE OF EVERY ANIMAL WE TOUCH WHETHER THROUGH A VACCINE, A SPAY NEUTER, A RESCUE, RESOURCES FOR OWNERS TO FIND LOW-COST VET CARE, A NEW COLLAR OR LEASH, A FLEA TREATMENT OR A MICROCHIP. WE ARE BOOTS ON THE GROUND MOSTLY IN THE CITY OF CAMDEN, NJ AND RECEIVE NO GOVERNMENT FUNDING. ALL DONATIONS ARE 100% TAX DEDUCTIBLE.OUR MOST PRECIOUS RESOURCE IS OUR VOLUNTEERS AND DONORS. AND OUR TIME. THE GIFT OF TIME IS OUR MOST IMPORTANT ASSET. WE NEED TIME TO WRITE A GRANT, RESCUE A CAT, SPEND 30 MINUTES COACHING AND COUNSELING AN OWNER WITH A PET PROBLEM, TRANSPORT BABY BIRDS TO REHAB, TRAVEL TO TRENTON TO TESTIFY, OR MAKE CALL AFTER CALL TO LAW ENFORCEMENT ABOUT ANIMAL CRUELTY THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT. IT MAKES SENSE TO DO SPECIAL EVENTS THEY GIVE US EXPOSURE AND ARE GREAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR DONOR ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND PUBLIC RELATIONS, BUT FUNDRAISING TAKES AN EXORBITANT AMOUNT OF TIME. AS STILL ALL-VOLUNTEERS, WE DO NOT HAVE PAID STAFF TO ORGANIZE VENUES, MENUS, AND SPONSORS, ARRANGE MYRIAD RAFFLE BASKETS, AND HAVE TO PRAY FOR GOOD WEATHER FOR OUTDOOR EVENTS. RECENTLY WE HAVE HAD A POLICY OF NO MORE RAFFLE BASKETS BECAUSE WE FEEL WE ARE NICKEL AND DIMING OUR DONORS AND QUITE HONESTLY EXHAUSTING THE VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE TO SOLICIT OR MAKE THEM, TRANSPORT THEM AND WRITE ALL THE THANK YOU LETTERS. EVEN SPONSORED FUNDRAISERS WITH THEIR VARIABLE EXPENSES BLEED OFF A FAIR SHARE OF REVENUE. RATHER THAN ASKING YOU TO ATTEND A FUNDRAISER THAT TAKES SO MUCH TIME TO ORGANIZE, A MONETARY GIFT TO US MEANS OUR ALL-VOLUNTEER STAFF WOULD HAVE MORE TIME ON TASKS COMMENSURATE WITH 16 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND ACUMEN AT NJ AID FOR ANIMALS. HELPING ANIMALS!DONATE TO NJ AID FOR ANIMALS. WE ARE RESPONSIBLE STEWARDS OF YOUR DONATION AND WE WILL BE EXEMPLARY STEWARDS OF THE INVALUABLE GIFT OF OUR TIME. THANK YOU ON BEHALF OF ALL THE ANIMALS.NJ AID FOR ANIMALS WAS VERY BUSY IN 2021 BIKERS FOR BULLIES: OVER 3M PIT BULLS A YEAR ARE EUTHANIZED IN AMERICA AT SHELTERS. OUR 8TH ANNUAL TRADEMARKED EVENT RAISES FUNDS FOR ABUSED AND ABANDONED PIT BULLS. THIS YEAR WE HONORED EMILY WHO WE RESCUED FROM A SHELTER AFTER SHE SAT IN ISOLATION FOR TWO YEARS WITH UNTREATED GLAUCOMA AND HAD TO HAVE HER EYES REMOVED. MOST OF THE CALLS WE RECEIVE ARE ABOUT HELP FOR OR CRUELTY AGAINST THIS TYPE OF DOG.FREE FIX FOR PHILLY PITS: ALTHOUGH A BIT OUT OF OUR LANE, PHILADELPHIA IS ONLY 5.1 MILES FROM CAMDEN. MANY PIT BULLS ARE CROSSING OVER LITERALLY TO PHILADELPHIA AND VICE VERSA. WE DONT CARE WHERE A PIT BULL COMES FROM. OUR GOAL IS TO FIX AS MANY DOGS AS WE CAN AND CONCENTRATE ON THE OVERPOPULATION OF PIT BULLS ARE BEING BRED THEN BEING DESTROYED IN SHELTERS IN NJ AND PA. FOCUS ON FERALS:DID YOU KNOW THERE ARE VERY FEW OUTCOMES FOR NUISANCE OR UNSOCIALIZED FERAL CATS THAT ARE PICKED UP BY ANIMAL CONTROL AND TAKEN TO THE SHELTER? UNLESS THEY FIND A BARN OR A KIND INDIVIDUAL WHO WILL ADOPT THEM, THEY USUALLY HAVE TO BE HELD FOR 7 DAYS THEN BE EUTHANIZED OR KEPT TO LANGUISH IN THE SHELTERS WHICH ARE LOUD AND BRIGHT AND FRIGHTENING. WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE OUR NEW PROGRAM FOCUS ON FERALSEVERYTHING AND ANYTHING ABOUT FERAL CATS. FROM TRAPPING NEUTERING AND RELEASING THEM TO PROVIDING A FERAL CAT DEN LIKE THE ONE PICTURED HERE CAN PROVIDE A SAFE SPOT FOR THESE KITTIES. WE PURCHASED 3 AT $100 A EACH FOR A LOCAL IMPOUND SHELTER. IT IS GRATIFYING TO SEE THESE POOR CATS HAVE A SAFE SPOT EVEN FOR WHAT MAY BE A VERY SHORT TIME. WE HELP OUR RESCUE PARTNERS AND OTHER PEOPLE TOO:NJ AID FOR ANIMALS FREQUENTLY COLLABORATES WITH OTHER RESCUES AND IT IS A WIN-WIN! WE ARE AT OUR MAXIMUM FOR CATS BUT HUNK WAS SITTING IN A HIGH KILL SHELTER NEEDING TO GET OUT!! WITH THE GENEROUS GIFTS FROM OUR DONORS ALL YEAR, WE WERE ABLE TO PLEDGE $100 TOWARD A RESCUE THAT SAVED HUNK. FOR OVER A DECADE WE HAVE BEEN HELPING A RESIDENT IN CAMDEN, NJ WITH ALL HIS CATS, FIXING THEM AND PROVIDING FOOD AND LITTER. WHEN HE HAD TO GO TO ASSISTED LIVING, HE HAD FOUR CATS LEFT AND THEY ALL WENT TO THE SHELTER. WE WENT AND GOT THEM ALL. ALTHOUGH WE HAD NO OBLIGATION TO TAKE THEM, NJ AID FOR ANIMALS FELT ETHICALLY RESPONSIBLE TO BRING THEM INTO OUR LITTLE SANCTUARY. SHE IS HAPPY WITH NJ AID FOR ANIMALS. LIONS AND TIGERS AND BEARS: NOT REALLY. JUST BUNNIES, POSSUMS, TURTLES, AND EVEN AN IGUANA. DID YOU KNOW WE RECEIVE CALLS 24/7 NOT ONLY ABOUT REHOMING OR CRUELTY FOR DOMESTIC ANIMALS BUT EVERY OTHER SPECIES? WE DO NOT INTAKE LIVESTOCK, WILDLIFE, BIRDS, OR REPTILES BUT WE SURE KNOW WHO TO CALL! JUST A FEW OF THE LUCKY CRITTERS THAT NJ AID FOR ANIMALS RESCUED AND GOT TO GREAT HOMES (OR REHABBED) THROUGH OUR NETWORK OF RESOURCES. RAPHAEL, A TURTLE ABANDONED IN A BOX IN FRONT OF A SHELTER; RABBIT OFFICER JUDY HOBBS ALSO ABANDONED; JUNE THE IGUANA ABANDONED IN CAMDEN, AND JOEYS (WHAT BABY POSSUMS ARE CALLED) AFTER THEIR MOTHER WAS KILLED. OTHER:$33,000 IN RESTRICTED SUNDS SHOWN BELOW: $20,000 FOR A VEHICLE $3,000 FOR A DOG RESCUED IN 2018 WHOSE LEFT LEG HAS SURGERY. ADVISED BY THE VET THAT THE OTHER LEG MAY ALSO NEED SURGERY IN THE FUTURE. DOG WAS ADOPTED BY A FAMILY THAT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD SURGERY SO WE RESTRICTED FUNDS FOR THE DOG SO THAT IT WAS ADOPTED BY A LOVING FAMILY. $10,000 FOR DEVELOPMENT. DEFINITION OF RESCUE PARTNERS:RESCUE PARTNERS ARE FOR PROFIT AND NOT FOR PROFIT ENTITITIES WITH WHOM WE HAVE ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIPS, THAT OFFER SERVICES OR RESCUE TO HELP SAVE AN ANIMAL. EXAMPLES ARE A DOG TRAINER, A BOARDING FACILITY ANOTHER RESCUE OR A FOSTER. |
