28 EDUCATION --------- ELEMENTARY, HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS IN 2021, A TOTAL OF 66 STUDENTS WERE SUPPORTED, INCLUDING 19 STUDENTS FROM 2ND TO 9TH GRADE, 46 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, AND ONE COLLEGE STUDENT. EACH STUDENT RECEIVED: SPORT SHOES AND UNIFORM, USB FLASH DRIVE, SCHOOL UNIFORM, BOOKS, AND TUITION PAYMENT. THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM SEEKS TO BENEFIT STUDENTS WITH LIMITED ECONOMIC RESOURCES WHO DEMONSTRATE ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE, A SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY SERVICE AND A DESIRE TO EXCEL AT SCHOOL. AS PART OF THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM THERE IS GOOD COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE TEACHERS AND THE PARENTS TO ENSURE THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF WHAT THE STUDENTS ARE LEARNING AND TO ENSURE THAT THE STUDENTS HAVE A HEALTHY LIVING ENVIRONMENT. PARENTS ALSO PARTICIPATE AS VOLUNTEERS IN HOUSING CONSTRUCTION AND OTHER PROJECTS IN THE COMMUNITY. WITH THE SUPPORT OF ST. JOSEPH'S CHURCH IN STRONGSVILLE, OHIO WE HAVE PROVIDED SCHOLARSHIPS TO AN ADDITIONAL 32 ELEMENTARY STUDENTS AND ONE UNIVERSITY STUDENT. SPECIAL NEEDS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. EPILOGOS PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS TO 8 STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS FROM KINDERGARTEN TO 7TH GRADE. EACH STUDENT GETS A SPORTS UNIFORM AND SHOES, BOOKS, DAILY UNIFORM AND 100% OF THEIR TUITION PAYMENTS. THE SPECIAL NEEDS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHILDREN WITH MANY DIFFERENT NEEDS. THE STUDENTS COME FROM FAMILIES WITH LIMITED ECONOMIC RESOURCES AND PRIOR TO THIS PROGRAM THEY DID NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND SCHOOL AND RECEIVE AN ADEQUATE EDUCATION FOR INTELLECTUAL AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT. PARENTS ARE ALSO PROVIDED SUPPORT WITH THIS PROGRAM. PREPAID CARDS FOR INTERNET CONNECTION. ELEMENTARY AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS RECEIVED PREPAID INTERNET CARDS TO HELP THEM PARTICIPATE IN ONLINE CLASSES DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC. MANY SCHOOLS HAD LIMITED IN PERSON CLASSES AND THE REMAINDER OF THE STUDENTS RECEIVED CLASSES ONLINE. THE STUDENTS ARE FROM FAMILIES WITH LIMITED FINANCIAL RESOURCES AND THE CARDS WERE PROVIDED SO THEY WERE ABLE TO CONTINUE STUDYING. TEACHERS SALARY SUPPORT ADDITIONALLY, IN THE AREA OF EDUCATION, A PERCENTAGE OF TWO TEACHER'S SALARIES WERE FUNDED. IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS THERE IS A LACK OF TEACHERS AND A LACK OF FUNDING FOR SALARIES. EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS SEEK HELP FROM DIFFERENT COMPANIES AND FOUNDATIONS TO MEET THE EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF STUDENTS. DIRECTOR -CARLOS CHAVARRA- COMPLEJO EDUCATIVO DE SAN JOS VILLANUEVA. -> SPECIAL NEEDS EDUCATION TEACHER- MARTHA ALICIA PANIAGUA COMPLEJO EDUCATIVO DE SAN JOS VILLANUEVA. THE SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER PLAYS A VERY IMPORTANT ROLE IN THE EDUCATION AND GUIDANCE OF STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS SINCE THEY COME FROM FAMILIES WITH LIMITED ECONOMIC RESOURCES. THESE FAMILIES COULD NOT AFFORD TO SEND THEIR CHILDREN TO A SPECIAL EDUCATION SCHOOL, AND THEIR NEEDS CANNOT BE MET IN A REGULAR CLASSROOM. THE SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER ENSURES THAT THE STUDENTS RECEIVE ADEQUATE ATTENTION AND EDUCATION. CLASSROOMS ADOPTIONS DIDACTIC MATERIALS ARE DONATED TO CLASSROOMS THAT HAVE LIMITED RESOURCES. TEACHERS PROVIDE A LIST OF BASIC NEEDS: BOOKS, LEARNING GAMES, ART SUPPLIES, EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS, ETC. AND INDIVIDUAL DONORS PROVIDE FUNDING TO ADOPT THE CLASSROOMS. 29 HOUSE CONSTRUCTION ------------------ CONSTRUCTION OF 2 PREFABRICATED HOUSES IN 2021, TWO PREFABRICATED HOUSES WERE BUILT IN THE SANTA LUCIA AND ESPRITU SANTO COMMUNITIES FOR THE ROQUE GUZMN FAMILY AND THE CORNELIO RIVERA FAMILY. THESE FAMILIES HAVE LIMITED FINANCES WITH ONLY THE HUSBAND WORKING AND RECEIVING A MINIMUM WAGE. THIS IS ONLY ENOUGH TO COVER THE BASIC NEEDS OF THE FAMILY: FOOD, BILLS, WATER AND ELECTRICITY. BOTH FAMILIES LIVED IN SIMPLE HOUSES MADE OF SHEET METAL AND WOOD THAT WERE NOT SUITABLE FOR ADEQUATE HOUSING. BOTH FAMILIES ARE NOW HAPPY LIVING IN A SAFE, DIGNIFIED SPACE WHERE THEIR CHILDREN WILL GROW UP IN A HEALTHY AND COMFORTABLE ENVIRONMENT. THE "CASA DIGNA" PROGRAM WORKS THANKS TO INTERNATIONAL DONATIONS FROM DIFFERENT FAMILIES, VOLUNTEERS, CHURCHES, STUDENTS ETC. THIS AID IS FOCUSED ON HOUSEHOLDS THAT HAVE A LIMITED INCOME; THERE MUST BE FOUR OR MORE PEOPLE IN THE FAMILY AND CHILDREN MUST ATTEND SCHOOL AND BE UP TO DATE ON MEDICAL CHECKUPS. IN ORDER TO APPLY FOR THE EPILOGOS HOUSING PROGRAM, FAMILIES MUST HAVE A LEGALIZED DEED FOR THE PROPERTY. THE FAMILY MUST PARTICIPATE IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THEIR HOME, AND THEY CONTRIBUTE 30% OF THE TOTAL COST OF THE HOUSE IN REGULAR INSTALLMENTS. RE-PAYMENT IS ESTABLISHED BASED ON THE FAMILY'S SOCIO-ECONOMIC STUDY, AND IS TYPICALLY 30-50 PER MONTH. HOUSE CONSTRUCTION IS DONE IN COLLABORATION WITH AMERICAN VOLUNTEERS, THE BENEFICIARY FAMILY AND COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS. EVERYONE WORKS TOGETHER AND LEARNS ABOUT THE OTHERS CULTURE AND CUSTOMS, FRIENDSHIPS DEVELOP, EVERYONE LEARNS THE VALUE OF TEAMWORK, AND THE VOLUNTEERS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET A FAMILY WITH MANY NEEDS. EACH FAMILY HAS A DIFFERENT STORY AND VOLUNTEERS LEARN HOW A DECENT HOME CHANGES THE HISTORY OF A FAMILY. ONE HOUSE WAS FUNDED BY US DONORS AND ONE HOUSE WAS FUNDED BY THE RE- PAYMENT FUND IN SJV. TOTAL VALUE OF HOUSING PROJECTS 13,000.

MEDICATION AND TRANSPORTATION SUPPORT FOR MEDICAL NEEDS EPILOGOS PROVIDED FUNDS FOR MEDICATION FOR A YOUNG BOY WITH DUCHAINE MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY SO THAT HE HAS THE DAILY MEDICINE THAT HE NEEDS TO KEEP HIS CONDITION STABLE. AND WE ALSO PROVIDED FUND FOR MEDICATION TO SUPPORT TO A YOUNG SINGLE MOTHER WITH CANCER WHEN SHE WAS UNABLE TO BE TREATED AT THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE OF COVID-19. TRANSPORTATION SUPPORT EPILOGOS PROVIDED TRANSPORTATION FOR A YOUNG GIRL WITH A PSYCHOMOTOR DELAY SO THAT SHE WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE REGULAR VISITS WITH A SPECIALIST IN SAN SALVADOR. OUR FOUNDATION IS PROUD TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT FAMILIES WHO ARE IN DIFFICULT FINANCIAL SITUATIONS WITH THEIR MEDICAL NEEDS. THIS PROVIDES HOPE FOR THE FAMILIES AND CHILDREN OF SAN JOS VILLANUEVA.
