    Summary of Direct Charitable Activities
List the foundation’s four largest direct charitable activities during the tax year. Include relevant statistical information such as the number of organizations and other beneficiaries served, conferences convened, research papers produced, etc. Expenses
1 Youth Workshops: The Bodecker Foundation partners with professional artists, musicians, designers, and educators to lead FREE, multidisciplinary workshops that empower creative youth, including those from traditionally underserved and underrepresented communities, to imagine and achieve their artistic, educational, and professional dreams. In 2021, the Bodecker Foundation hosted 33 youth workshops and events attended by 364 high school students, including 10 hybrid workshops during Summer and Fall 2021 with in-person gatherings at our headquarters at 2360 NW Quimby Street. This year we also created a new in-classroom workshop format for students at Many Nations Academy and piloted a Creative Careers Cohort (C3) mentoring programming for low-income high school students who are interested in creative careers. Our 2021 workshop disciplines included songwriting, audio engineering, podcasting, creative writing, fashion design, illustration, film/video production, photography, studio art, zi 279,581
2 Artists & Musicians in Residence: The Bodecker Foundations headquarters at 2360 NW Quimby Street in Portland, Oregon includes well-appointed creative spaces reserved exclusively for Artists and Musicians in Residence. Artists in Residence are invited to work out of the Foundation for a designated period of time while they focus on developing specific creative output. Residencies may include use of Halfling Studio, our on-site, state-of-the-art recording studio, along with engineering and production support. In exchange, Artists and Musicians in Residence strengthen our collaborative community during their time with us by leading a youth focused workshop, panel, and/or salon event for adult community members. In 2021, we provided residencies primarily to artists, musicians, and composers of color including Jasmines Barnes, Lauren McCall, Caitlin Edwards, and Keyla Orozco who participated in All Classical Portlands Recording Inclusivity Initiative; Portland-based singer, songwriter, and 75,709
3 Community Engagement and Events: The Bodecker Foundation provides creative communities with an extraordinary and energetic space for workshops, mentoring, and collaboration. Community events at 2360 NW Quimby Street in Portland, Oregon include film screenings, panel conversations, gallery shows, and a monthly experimental music, poetry, and performance series called Deep Happening which was presented virtually in 2021. Additionally, the Foundation makes its spaces available for use by like-minded arts and non-profit organizations for their own fundraising events, trainings, board meetings, and staff planning sessions. While in person events were severely curtailed in 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic, we were able to host several partner 501c3 organizations during the second half of the year including Brown Hope (Black Resilience Fund), Friends of the Children, PICA, and Portland Public Schools as well as a creative writing workshop series led by writers Chelsea Cain and Chuck Pahlaniuk 4,000
