| FORM 990, PART I, LINE 1 | careers, and communities, and committed to providing immersive learning experiences where students can discover, develop, and apply their innate abilities. Empowered offers any change-making teacher - regardless of grade, subject, class, or setting - an encouraging community, a way of teaching and activities that bring learning to life, virtual, on-demand, and in-person professional development, and support from our staff. Our non-profit organization's long term goal is to instill a growth mindset as a vehicle for societal change. To do so, we will emboldened teachers by providing the trust and tools they need for long, fulfilling, careers. They, in turn, will offer their students a better learning experience that arms them with the life skills and perspective they need to create and seize the opportunities in their lives. |
| FORM 990, PART III, LINE 1 | Empowering teachers with a growth mindset in their classrooms, careers, and communities. Empowered, as a community, is transforming education from within to better-serve all students, helping more young people discover what they're good at and developing their skills and values, including through failure, in a low-risk environment. The intent is for students to be ready to deploy their unique gifts as they enter society - creating more ventures, more opportunities, and more value for them and contributions to our shared society. |
| FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4A | We shared the news with our educator community as well and began planning our summer conferences. To further align with our vision of being a teacher-centered organization, we launched a teacher lifestyle magazine. The Empowered Teacher magazine brings stories, inspiration, and our method of teaching to teachers across the country in print and digital versions. In the summer, Empowered brought together our teacher communities for professional development events. Our community of 150+ of our most highly engaged educators joined us in Nashville, Tenn. for Empowered Rise - a 3-day, in-person event focused on sharing knowledge and seeking feedback on our new brand and instructional strategy. Following that event, we hosted a virtual conference with over 200 attendees joining from across the country. This event was designed with a "by teachers, for teachers" mentality, resulting in a keynote and 15+ sessions of teacher presenters sharing on a range of topics, including how they leverage Empowered in their classrooms, project-based learning, and more. Additionally in 2021, we launched a new marketing website and digital training and curricular sites. Throughout 2021, we continued to evolve and enhance our digital offerings, culminating with the launch in April 2022 of Empowered Hub. Empowered Hub is an online resource and mobile application that provides teachers with access to our curricular resources, professional development opportunities, and a like-minded community of teachers. |
