Individual originally doing these sent in paper returns and that were getting rejected and sent back to our PO Box that wasn't checked as often as it should have been. Pair that with this is a volunteer unpaid position, while our full time positions working at the City of New Britain was open all throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We had staff turnover as well as staff with medical issues, family medical issues, child care issues as well as trying to wrap up FEMA disasters have put everything very behind on our schedule. I humbly request a waiver of this late fee penalty as Local 818 was hit with too many external circumstances that are out of our control. Even our Treasurer has retired leaving me to finish up submission of these Form 990's and supporting schedules and documentation. Once again I ask that you grant leniency and wave this late filing penalty. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
