| Form 990, Part III, Line 4d: Other Program Services Description | OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: The Eye-Banks Ocular Tissue Research Program supplies donor eye tissue to medical scientists researching cures and treatment of eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma and diseases of the retina. In 2020, The Eye-Bank provided its first vials of Adult Human Retina Pigment Epithelial (ah-RPE) cells to researchers conducting studies on the potential for transplanting RPE cells in the future. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: The Young Ambassador Program invites cornea transplant recipients ages four to 17 to express themselves creatively through art and poetry and selected efforts are featured in The Eye-Banks annual Thanksgiving Card. The program also awards an annual $3,000 scholarship to a qualifying applicant under the age of 25 who is entering or enrolled in a two- or four-year institution of higher learning. An additional Eye-Bank scholarship in the amount of $3,000 has been established for student applicants pursuing higher learning in a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) field. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: The Eye-Banks Marketing Program continued to inform the public about the importance of eye donation and enrolling in the Donate Life Registry through its highly-successful multi-media advertising campaign that reaches a New York metropolitan audience via radio, television, and newspapers as well as social media platforms and email marketing. Both media and digital marketing placement includes Spanish language outlets. |
