Washington Street in Saint Croix Falls WI which is where Moms and Dads against Meth, Inc. and our primary community outreach project Butterfly House Transitional Sober House for Women are based and conduct business. 990ez Part III #28 (program service accomplishments): Butterfly House Transitional Sober House for Women is the primary community outreach project of Moms and Dads against Meth, Inc. Butterfly house is a long term, sober living residence for women coming from incarceration, homelessness, or inpatient drug treatment facility. Butterfly House offers structure, accountability and stability in addition to drug education and relapse prevention curriculum and activities. Our Mission is to provide a safe sober residence for women in recovery from alcohol or other drug dependency while introducing sober living skills, peer-to-peer fellowship and support, and educational experiences that will aid them in the transition back into their families and communities. Residents are required to maintain sobriety, submit to random drug and alcohol testing, be employed full time, budget money, pay on current and past debt, contribute service to their community, attend daily 12 Step recovery meetings, complete drug education and relapse prevention curriculum and activities, identify and work to accomplish health, recovery, relationship and financial goals, follow house rules, follow societal rules, follow Covid-19 and other health maintenance rules, follow probation rules if applicable, and maintain a respectful relationship with housemates and staff. Butterfly House also provides pro bono short term shelter for women on waiting lists to enter drug treatment facilities in surrounding counties. As in 2020 and 2021, our census is down due to residual effects resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. This far, 2023 is looking more optimistic. Normally, we would provide residence and recovery support for 25-30 adult women per year. In 2022, 12 adult women were provided with long and short term residence plus recovery support, drug education and relapse prevention activities, food, clothing and personal care supplies if needed, opportunity for peer-to-peer fellowship and support, life skills education, transportation, employment assistance, random drug and alcohol testing, and plenty of opportunity for accountability and responsibility in a safe structured environment. Additionally, 15 minor children and 4 adult children of Butterfly House residents reaped the benefit of having their parent be a sober, productive, law-abiding member of society. 990ez Part III #29 (program service accomplishments): In 2022, 12 adult women benefitted from participation in drug education and relapse prevention curriculum and activities. All clients attended daily 12 Step meetings. All clients in residence longer than 2 weeks obtained a recovery sponsor and worked with her to incorporate the 12 Step Principles into their daily lives. 4 clients participated in mental health counseling sessions by zoom or in person. 1 client participated in drug and alcohol counseling and 3 clients attended a 12 Step weekend retreat with the goal of strengthening their recovery. All clients participated in learning life skills which included budgeting paychecks, writing a resume, applying for employment, cooking, keeping your living space clean and organized, personal hygiene, gardening, problem solving, food preservation, scheduling an appointment, prioritizing a to-do list, setting goals and determining how to accomplish those goals, etc. 990ez Part III #30 (program service accomplishments): in 2022, Butterfly House residents contributed a total of 197 hours in service to their community at People Loving People Thrift Store, Family Pathways Thrift Store, Adopt a Highway, Festival Theatre, and maintenance projects at Butterfly House. Butterfly House staff and advisory board members continue to contribute over 3000 hours of volunteer hours per year supervising and supporting Butterfly House residents as well as maintaining house and property. Duties include administering drug tests and Covid-19 tests, grant research, writing and maintenance, gardening and food preservation, resident transportation, updating drug education curriculum, social media updates, providing support for incarcerated individuals, interviewing applicants, office administrative duties, and house and property maintenance. |
