Explanation:

Historically filed return with Ruritan National. The District fiscal year is October 1 - September 30. This is the first time we were advised to file direct to IRS and State. Our last full year was October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022. We transmitted our return to the IRS and, unfortunately, the IRS rejected the return. According to IRS Business Master File, the IRS thinks that the fiscal year for us ends 12/31. The IRS rejected the return because of this discrepancy. A call to IRS went through on 2/23/2023. We decided to check "initial return" to help get IRS file established correct. The IRS lady shared future returns are due Feb 15th. Also, I had prepared the return on Form 990-EZ and could have reported the information on a postcard. The IRS lady said it was ok to send on the 990 EZ form since it was already prepared.
