Return Reference	Explanation
Part X, Line 2:	The Council is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(5) of the Internal Revenue Code as part of a group exemption for organizations affiliated with the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers and is, therefore, subject to tax only on income, if any, unrelated to its tax-exempt purpose. Management is required to evaluate tax positions taken by the Council and recognize a tax liability (or asset) if the Council has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination by the taxing authorities. As of December 31, 2022, there were no uncertain positions taken or expected to be taken that would require recognition of a liability (or asset) or disclosure in the financial statements. The Council's Form 990, Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax, for the years ending 2019, 2020 and 2021 are subject to examination by the IRS, generally for three years after they were filed.
