We received an IRS determination letter dated 12/1/2020. In that letter, it reads Organizations exempt under IRC Section 501(c)(3) are further classified as either public charities or private foundations. We determined you're a private foundation within the meaning of Section 509(a). Based on the information you submitted with your application, we approved your request for reinstatement under Revenue Procedure 2014-11. Your effective date of exemption, as listed at the top of this letter, is the postmark date of your application. You're required to file Form 990-PF, Return of Private Foundation or Section 4947(a)(l) Trust Treated as Private Foundation, annually, whether or not you have income or activity during the year. If you don't file a required return or notice for three consecutive years, your exempt status wiil be automaticaliy revoked. If we indicated at the top of this letter that an addendum applies, the enclosed addendum is an integral part of this letter. For important information about your responsibilities as a tax-exempt organization, go to www.irs.gov/charities. In 2021, we e-filed a 2020 990-PF, submission ID 32101820211532100046, and received an accepted response and corresponding letter. After several calls, I was notified that the 2020 return was never received and that we are not classified as a Private Foundation and must file a 990 vs. the 990-PF that was filed. For this reason, I ask that you please waive any penalties for the later filing. I've called several times and was told that the issue would be resolved in a few weeks and to refile using the 990-PF return. I've tried to file the 2021 990-PF, but it was also rejected for teh same reason. At present, the phone lines are saying to please call back so trying through this system.
