| Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 1a | The Executive Board shall be composed of the board officers, President, Executive Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Recording Secretary, and the following: (a) Three Affiliate Representatives from the local union affiliates of the three International/National Unions whose local union affiliates have the highest number of members affiliated with the Area Labor Federation. (b) One At-Large Affiliate Representatives from among local union affiliates of International/National Unions that do not comprise the three International/National Unions with the highest number of members affiliated with the Area Labor Federation, (c) One representative from a chartered AFL-CIO Constituency Group-affiliated with the Area Labor Federation who shall be elected by the Executive Boards of the Constituency Groups within the jurisdiction of the ALF. The AFL-CIO Constituency Group representative will represent all constituency groups, and must be a member in good standing of a local union affiliated with the Area Labor Federation. (d) One Building Trades representative, who shall be elected by the Executive Boards of the Building Trade Councils affiliated with the Area Labor Federation. This representative must be from a local union affiliated with the Area Labor Federation. (e) One Alliance for Retired Americans representative. This representative will have no voice and no vote concerning the endorsement of a political candidate or any other matters related to the Committee on Political Education. (f) One Young Worker representative, who shall be elected by the Next-Up Caucus. The representative must be age 35 years or younger to be eligible for nomination. (g) One representative from each Labor Chapter, who shall be the Principal Officer of the Chapter unless she/he declines, in which case the Chapter will elect an alternate. The Chapter representatives will hold the position of Vice President on the Board. The Executive Vice President of the GRALF shall be elected by the GRALF Executive Board from among the Vice Presidents at the first meeting after the election. The Executive Board shall be the governing body of the Area Labor Federation between its delegates' meetings. It is authorized and empowered to take such action and render such decisions as may be necessary to carry out fully the decisions and instructions of the Board and as may be necessary and appropriate to safeguard and promote the best interests of the ALF and its affiliated unions. Each Executive Board member shall be entitled to one (1) vote, with the exception of the Worker Center representative, who shall have voice but no vote. |
