| FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION | THE PRIMARY MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO CONNECT HOPELESS PEOPLE TO GOD AND TO FORM A COMMUNITY OF SUPPORT BY PROVIDING HUMANITARIAN SERVICES THAT ADDRESS IMMEDIATE AND LONG-TERM NEEDS IN THE AREAS OF HUNGER, POVERTY, GANG INVOLVEMENT, EDUCATION, AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING. ADDITIONALLY, THROUGH CHRISTIAN TEACHING AND DISCIPLESHIP WE ARE BUILDING A GROUP OF RESILIENT PEOPLE WHOSE LIVES HAVE BEEN REDEEMED BY GOD'S LOVE AND WHO NOW DESIRE TO BE AGENTS OF CHANGE IN THEIR OWN SPHERE OF INFLUENCE. |
| FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4A | THE ORGANIZATION BEGAN THE YEAR WITH MUCH EXCITEMENT PLACING A MAJOR EMPHASIS ON THE FEEDING PROGRAM AND DECIDING THAT THIS WOULD BE THE YEAR TO FUNDRAISE TO BUY LAND. THE FACILITIES AT THE CURRENT LEASED PROPERTY HAVE NOT BEEN ADEQUATE TO PROVIDE ALL THE ORGANIZATION'S NEEDS. IN ADDITION, EDUCATION HAS ALWAYS BEEN AT THE FOREFRONT OF THE SAN PEDRO SULA DREAM CENTER'S PURPOSE, NOTING THAT IN ORDER TO BRING REAL LIFE CHANGE TO THE IMPOVERISHED COMMUNITIES THE ORGANIZATION SERVES, EDUCATION IS A MAJOR FACTOR. IN 2022,HUGE STRIDES WERE MADE, BROADENING THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM TO INCLUDE FOUR FULLY SCHOLARSHIPPED STUDENTS AND 6 PARTIAL, IN ADDITION TO HELPING LOCAL SCHOOLS AND PROVIDING SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO MANY STUDENTS. OVERALL, 2022 WAS A SUCCESSFUL YEAR FOR THE ORGANIZATION. OVER THE COURSE OF THE ENTIRE YEAR, THEY SERVED AN ESTIMATED 57,500 PLATES OF FOOD THROUGH THE FEEDING PROGRAM. 1,610 FULL BAGS OF GROCERIES WERE GIVEN TO THE ELDERLY AND WIDOWS. FOUR MISSION TEAMS WERE HOSTED, AND MANY OTHER SMALLER GROUPS OF MISSIONARIES VISITED. APPROXIMATELY 40 LOCAL HONDURAN MEN AND WOMEN VOLUNTEERED IN DIFFERENT ASPECTS AT THE CENTER. CLOSE TO 180 STUDENTS WERE INVOLVED IN THE CLASSES (MUSIC, ENGLISH, LEADERSHIP, SPORTS, AND DISCIPLESHIP) MANY MORE ACTIVITIES WERE PLANNED AND EXECUTED BY THE ORGANIZATION SUCH AS: A DENTAL BRIGADE FOR 300 PEOPLE, MANY GROCERY GIVEAWAYS, CLOTHING GIVEAWAYS, TWO SHOE GIVEAWAYS, A FIELD TRIP FOR LEADERSHIP STUDENTS, CELEBRATIONS FOR KID'S DAY AND CHRISTMAS, AN EVANGELISTIC YOUTH CONFERENCE AND SO MUCH MORE FAMILIES WERE GIVEN MEDICAL ASSISTANCE, HELP WITH BILLS, SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SCHOOL, SCHOOL SUPPLIES THROUGH THE BENEVOLENCE PROGRAM. THE SPORTS PROGRAM WAS MAGNIFIED TO INCLUDE THREE SOCCER TEAMS WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE LOCAL LEAGUE, HELPING TO KEEP THESE STUDENTS OFF THE STREETS AND OUT OF GANGS. THREE INTERNATIONAL MISSIONARY INTERNS SERVED WITH THE ORGANIZATION AND 8 LOCALLY. ANOTHER NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENT THIS YEAR WAS HOLDING THE FIRST MULTIPLE DAY CAMP FOR THE YOUTH STUDENTS. THEY WERE SPONSORED BY THE ORGANIZATION AND WERE ABLE TO SPEND TIME BY THE LAKE IN SOUTHERN HONDURAS FOR AN UNFORGETTABLE TEAM BUILDING AND SPIRITUAL ENCOUNTER. ALSO, THE ORGANIZATION HELD A BALLET RECITAL FOR THE BALLET STUDENTS, AND THE MUSIC STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN FOUR DIFFERENT CONCERTS, ONE OF WHICH WAS HELD ON THE STEPS OF THE GOVERNMENT PLAZA DOWNTOWN SAN PEDRO SULA. IN THE FIRST TWO MONTHS OF THE YEAR, AS THE ORGANIZATION DOES EVERY YEAR, VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF WORKED WITH EACH FAMILY IN THE PROGRAM TO GUARANTEE THE CONTINUATION OF EACH CHILD'S EDUCATION, ASKING EACH STUDENTS' GUARDIAN TO TURN IN PROOF OF SCHOOL ENROLLMENT. THE ORGANIZATION'S STAFF ASSISTED THOSE STUDENTS WHO WERE UNABLE TO REGISTER WITH PAPERWORK, PHONE CALLS AND MORE. THE ORGANIZATION ASSISTED MANY STUDENTS WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND EVEN UNIFORMS. THE ORGANIZATION IMPLEMENTED A NEW BIRTHDAY PROGRAM TO MAKE SURE EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO IS A PART OF THE CENTER'S PROGRAMS IS CELEBRATED ON THEIR BIRTHDAY WITH A CUPCAKE, TREAT BAG, "TICKETS" TO USE IN THE ORGANIZATION'S FREE STORE, AND A SPECIAL PICTURE WITH A BIRTHDAY HAT. THEY HOSTED THE FIRST MISSION TEAM OF THE YEAR, WHO PARTICIPATED IN A SLEW OF EVENTS AND OUTREACHES. THE SUMMER MONTHS OF JUNE, JULY AND AUGUST WERE FILLED WITH TWO MORE MISSION TEAMS AND THE FIRST EVER CAMP. THIS WAS A HUGE UNDERTAKING FOR THE ORGANIZATION, BUT PROVED TO YIELD MUCH FRUIT. THE ORGANIZATION TOOK OVER 30 STUDENTS (ALONG WITH OTHER STUDENTS FROM THE LOCAL CHURCH) TO CAMP. STUDENTS WERE MINISTERED TO AND THEY CONNECTED WITH EACH OTHER IN A WAY THAT HAS NEVER BEEN POSSIBLE BEFORE THIS EVENT. SINCE THE ORGANIZATION WORKS IN HIGH RISK AREAS WHERE THERE IS GANG INVOLVEMENT, MANY TIMES STUDENTS FROM ONE BLOCK WILL NOT ASSOCIATE WITH STUDENTS FROM JUST A FEW STREETS OVER. THE ORGANIZATION HOSTED A MINI-ONE DAY TRIP WITH A MEDICAL TEAM WHO PARTICIPATED IN ANOTHER SHOE GIVEAWAY, AND THEY HELD THE FIRST ULTRASOUND CLINIC WITH FREE ULTRASOUNDS FOR THE COMMUNITY. THEY ALSO PLANNED AND EXECUTED AN EXCITING ONE DAY CAMP FOR THE PRESCHOOL STUDENTS AND ANOTHER ONE FOR THE ELEMENTARY STUDENTS. THE CHOIR STUDENTS WERE INVITED TO THE LOCAL THEATER FOR A CONCERT, WHERE THEY SANG 3 SONGS. AT THEN END OF THE SUMMER, RECITALS WERE HELD AND GOODBYES WERE SAID TO THE SUMMER INTERNS. IN THE FALL, THE ORGANIZATION WAS SO EXCITED TO CELEBRATE A HUGE DAY IN HONDURAS CALLED KID'S DAY. THEY WERE ABLE TO GIVE TOYS, FOOD, CUPCAKES AND MORE TO OVER 250 CHILDREN IN THE COMMUNITY IN A COMMUNITY WHERE POVERTY PREVENTS MOST FAMILIES FROM EVEN HAVING A CAKE ON A BIRTHDAY, THIS BROUGHT A MUCH NEEDED BOOST OF HOPE AND HAPPINESS. THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUED ALL ITS NORMAL ACTIVITIES SUCH AS FEEDING PROGRAM, CHAPEL, ELDERLY WOMEN'S WEEKLY FOOD GIVEAWAY, CLASSES, TUTORING, GROCERY HELP, SPORTS, AND MUSIC. THEY HELD A HUGE DENTAL BRIGADE IN COLLABORATION WITH A UNIVERSITY AND ITS DENTAL STUDENTS AND 38 LOCAL DENTISTS. 300 COMMUNITY PATIENTS WERE SEEN, 113 TEETH EXTRACTIONS TOOK PLACE AND 64 VOLUNTEERS HELPED WITH THIS BIG UNDERTAKING. THE ORGANIZATION PARTNERED WITH A LOCAL SCHOOL TO GIVE THEM CONCRETE BLOCKS TO HELP BUILD AN EXTRA CLASSROOM AND GRADUATIONS FOR THE LEADERSHIP AND SPORTS PROGRAMS WERE HELD. A BIG PIZZA PARTY WAS THROWN FOR ALL THE STUDENTS THAT FINISHED THE WHOLE YEAR OF DISCIPLESHIP CLASSES WITH A GOOD ATTENDANCE RECORD. 2022 WAS CONCLUDED WITH A BEAUTIFUL CONCERT BY THE CHOIR, FLUTE, VIOLIN, CELLO, AND VIOLONCELLO STUDENTS FOR PARENTS AND GUESTS, HELD AT CITYHOPE CHURCH. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO HOSTED A VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION BREAKFAST FOR THOSE WHO VOLUNTEERED IN THE COMMUNITY KITCHEN AND ULTIMATELY, FINISHED THE YEAR OFF WITH A CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION FOR CHILDREN IN NEED. IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL WAY TO END A VERY SUCCESSFUL YEAR FOR THE SAN PEDRO SULA DREAM CENTER. IN SUMMARY, 2022 PROVED TO BE A SUCCESSFUL YEAR FOR THE ORGANIZATION. THE SAN PEDRO SULA DREAM CENTER EXPANDED ITS INFLUENCE WITHIN THE COMMUNITY, INCREASED VOLUNTEER PARTICIPATION, COLLABORATED WITH GLOBAL MISSION TEAMS, AND MADE A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF THE STUDENTS AND FAMILIES IT ASSISTS. |
