	The VFW Department of Arizona maintains a robust network of both employees and volunteers whose main objective is helping veterans navigate the intricacies of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This includes applying for benefits, enrolling in health care and solving various problems that can and do arise when dealing with the VA. Our paid Service Officers obtained a combined total of $69 million dollars in direct compensation during fiscal year 21-22 for Arizona disabled veterans. This is in keeping with the VFW's slogan of Veterans Helping Veterans. The outright expenditures related to this important function approaches $210,000, not counting the untold hours by our volunteer members.

	The VFW Department of Arizona with the help of its state-wide affiliates has donated over $30,000 supporting National VFW Programs such as the National Home for Children, the VFW Veterans and Military Support, which includes Operation Uplink, Unmet Needs and Military Assistance Program. This past year VFW Department of Arizona raised funds and gathered supplies for areas of the country hard hit by natural disasters.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6	Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department/State of Arizona is a membership organization. These members elect the governing body annually at their respective District meetings or at its annual convention through their respective delegates.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7a	The Commander has the authority to remove a voting officer and appoint a replacement of the governing board, for violations of the organizations charter. such appointment is only in force until the next meeting of the governing body.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7b	Any change in state governance requires a majority vote by the governing body (Council of Administration)
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b	Accounting and financial practices are monitored by three members of an audit team, who review all transactions, receipts and expenditures. Explanation:

After COVID our long time CPA lost his wife and went into depression. He would not turn over his electronic accounting file and all files had to be recreated from scratch manually. Once this was done a new accountant needed to be found. Repeated calls to accountants went unanswered for months. Finally one met with us, took our information and financials, and did not file the return.
