| FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION | ARTSPACE AT UNTITLED IS AN ENVIRONMENT DESIGNED TO STIMULATE CREATIVE THOUGHT AND NEW IDEAS THROUGH CONTEMPORARY ART. WE ARE COMMITTED TO PROVIDING ACCESS TO QUALITY EXHIBITIONS, EDUCATION PROGRAMS, PERFORMANCES, PUBLICATIONS, AND TO ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY IN COLLABORATIVE OUTREACH EFFORTS. |
| FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4A | FUNDRAISER/EXHIBIT/GALLERY: STEAMROLLER FESTIVAL: THE ANNUAL STEAMROLLER FESTIVAL IS A FAST-GROWING PRINTMAKING FESTIVAL HOSTED FOR THE COMMUNITY. 2022 WAS THE FIFTH YEAR FOR THIS EVENT. WE WELCOMED OVER 200 ARTISTS AND STUDENTS WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE FESTIVAL BY CARVING LARGE SCALE WOOD BLOCKS TO BE PRINTED WITH A 5-TON STEAMROLLER. A SECTION OF THE STREET WAS CLOSED FOR STAGING 50 LOCAL ART VENDORS, LOCAL FOOD TRUCKS, ANTHEM BREWING, AND WANDERFOLK SPIRITS. IN 2022, WE HAD SEVERAL LIVE BANDS PLAYING THROUGHOUT THE DAY, AS WELL AS LIVE DEMOS AND A KIDS ACTIVITIES TENT. THIS FESTIVAL BRINGS OVER 2,000 PATRONS TO THE DEEP DEUCE AREA ANNUALLY. EXQUISITE CORPSE COSTUME BALL: IN 2022, WE ADDED THE EXQUISITE CORPSE COSTUME BALL BACK TO OUR ANNUAL PROGRAMMING. THIS BALL IS PRIMARILY A FUNDRAISER FOR OUR GENERAL PROGRAMMING AND MENTORSHIP PROGRAM. THIS IS ONE OF OUR ONLY TICKETED EVENTS OF THE YEAR. ARTSPACE HOSTED OVER 150 GUESTS FOR AN EVENING OF HALLOWEEN- THEMED FUN, WITH CARNIVAL GAMES AND A COSTUME CONTEST. THERE WAS A LIVE AUCTION AND SILENT AUCTION, WINE PULL, AND TESTIMONIALS FROM A FEW OF OUR MENTORSHIP STUDENTS. THIS WAS ALSO AN OPPORTUNITY TO PROVIDE EXPOSURE TO THE 12 LOCAL ARTISTS IN THE EXQUISITE CORPSE EXHIBITION. THE GALLERIES: ARTSPACE AT UNTITLED HAS TWO GALLERY SPACES WITH A COMBINED 6,000 SQUARE FEET: THE MAIN GALLERY AND THE PRESS GALLERY. THE MAIN GALLERY IS A SPACE FOR PROFESSIONAL LOCAL, NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS WHILE THE PRESS GALLERY IS A SMALLER SPACE FOR EMERGING ARTISTS. IN 2022, SEVERAL ARTISTS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE SHARED THEIR UNIQUE PERSPECTIVES. THE MAIN GALLERY FEATURED GAYLE SINGER, ELIZABETH BROWN, MARILYN JOLLY, NORMAN KARY, AND KEES HOLTERMAN. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WERE SEVERAL GROUP EXHIBITIONS INCLUDING OUR ANNUAL MENTORSHIP EXHIBITION, EXQUISITE CORPSE EXHIBITION, AND STEAMROLLER SPOTLIGHT ARTIST EXHIBITION. THE MENTORSHIP SHOW INCLUDES WORK CREATED BY OUR MENTORSHIP STUDENTS IN OUR STUDIOS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE SPOTLIGHT SHOW FEATURES LARGE SCALE RELIEF PRINTS BY LOCAL ARTISTS. TWELVE LOCAL PRINTMAKERS ALSO COLLABORATED ON THE EXQUISITE CORPSE EXHIBITION IN OCTOBER. IN THE PRESS GALLERY, WE HAD JASON DANN (A FORMER MENTORSHIP STUDENT), JORDAN TACKER, RAE STONE, SYLVIE MAYER, AND ELISEO CASIANO. ARTSPACE ALSO HOSTS THE ANNUAL OKLAHOMA STUDENTS ART EXHIBITION, A TRAVELING SHOW OF JURIED STUDENT WORK SUBMITTED TO THE OKLAHOMA STATE FAIR. |
| FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4B | PREFACE: THROUGHOUT 2022, ARTSPACE WAS COMMITTED TO REACHING OUT TO THE COMMUNITY IN NEW AND DIVERSE WAYS AND MAKING INTERNAL IMPROVEMENTS TO CREATE A MORE ENRICHING ENVIRONMENT FOR MAKERS AND STUDENTS. OUR PROGRAMMING INCLUDES TWO EXHIBITION GALLERIES, THE HIVE GIFT SHOP, MENTORSHIP PROGRAM, ARTIST IN RESIDENCE (AIR), THE PRESS STUDIO, AND A HANDFUL OF ANNUAL COMMUNITY EVENTS WE HOST THROUGHOUT THE YEAR SUCH AS CREATIVE MARKETS, THE EXQUISITE CORPSE COSTUME BALL, AND THE STEAMROLLER PRINT FESTIVAL. MENTORSHIP PROGRAM: THE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM IS ONE OF ARTSPACES LARGEST KEY PROGRAMS. EACH MONTH, STUDENTS FROM OKLAHOMA CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS VISIT OUR STUDIOS TO RECEIVE ARTS EDUCATION AND MENTORSHIP THAT TRADITIONAL ACADEMIA DOES NOT PROVIED. WE TEACH OUR STUDENTS THE SKILLS TO PREPARE THEM FOR A DYNAMIC PROFESSIONAL CAREER. IN 2022, WE ADDED TWO SCHOOLS FOR A TOTAL OF 13, AND NOW SEE EACH OF OUR 158 STUDENTS EVERY MONTH. WE PROVIDE LUNCH AND AFTER- SCHOOL ACCESS TO THE STUDIOS TOO, AT NO COST TO THE STUDENTS OR THEIR SCHOOLS. ADDITIONALLY, WE FACILITATE FIELD TRIPS FOR EACH SCHOOL TO VISIT OTHER ART SPACES, SUCH AS 21C, OK CONTEMPORARY, AND FACTORY OBSCURA. DURING THE SUMMER, ARTSPACE ALSO HOSTS A STOP-MOTION ANIMATION COURSE FOR INTERESTED MENTORSHIP STUDENTS. DURING THIS COURSE, STUDENTS WORK WITH NICOLE EMMONS, A PROFESSIONAL ANIMATOR WHO HAS WORKED WITH NETFLIX. THE FILM THE STUDENTS MADE IN 2021 WAS ACCEPTED TO THE DEADCENTER FILM FESTIVAL IN 2022 AND ARTSPACE HAS OFFICIALLY PARTNERED WITH DEADCENTER FOR THE STOP-MOTION COURSE. TYPICALLY, WE ONLY PROVIDE ONE SUMMER ARTS COURSE FOR STUDENTS, BUT IN 2022 WE ALSO TAUGHT A TWO-WEEK SPECIAL PROJECTS COURSE. THIS COURSE PAIRED EACH OF THE TWELVE PARTICIPATING STUDENTS WITH THEIR OWN PROFESSIONAL MENTOR. THESE MENTORS WERE SKILLED IN A DIVERSE ARRAY OF CREATIVE AREAS, SUCH AS SCREEN PRINTING, FIBER ART, CONCEPTUAL INSTALLATION, SCULPTURE, AND MORE. EACH STUDENT RECEIVED ONE-ON-ONE GUIDANCE ON PREPARING EITHER AN AP ART PORTFOLIO, A GALLERY INSTALLATION, OR A COHESIVE BODY OF WORK. ARTIST IN RESIDENCE: THE ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM PROVIDES FOUR LOCAL AND TWO TO FOUR NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL VISITING ARTISTS PER YEAR. THE AIR PROGRAM ALLOWS ARTSPACE TO OFFER NEW VOICES TO THE COMMUNITY, WHERE DIALOGUE AND EXCHANGE OF IDEAS RESULT IN A LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR OUR MENTORSHIP STUDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY. THE ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE ARE REQUIRED TO TEACH A WORKSHOP, GIVE AN ARTIST TALK, AND EXHIBIT THEIR WORK. IN 2022, WE HAD ONE AIR, KEES HOLTERMAN FROM PHILADELPHIA. WE MADE THE DECISION IN 2022 TO RENOVATE OUR LIVING SPACE FOR THE AIR PROGRAM, SO THAT THEY MAY LIVE AND WORK MORE COMFORTABLY IN THE SPACE. OUR HOPE IS TO HAVE THE LIVING QUARTERS IN BETTER CONDITION SOON SO WE MAY RETURN OUR AIR PROGRAM TO FULL CAPACITY. THE PRESS STUDIO: OUR PRESS STUDIO IS A MULTI-DISCIPLINARY PRINTMAKING STUDIO THAT PROVIDES COMMUNITY ACCESS TO 5 INTAGLIO PRESSES, 1 LITHOGRAPHY PRESS AND 30 STONES, 2 LETTERPRESSES, 3 PROOFING PRESSES, 1 BOOK PRESS, OVER 200 CASES OF TYPE, LINE-O-SCRIBE, FOILER, LIGHT TABLE, DRYING RACKS, FLAT FILES, A NUARC EXPOSURE UNIT, DARKROOM, AND WASHOUT BOOTH. WE HAD 5 INTERNS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, LEARNING BOTH THE BUSINESS SIDE AND THE ART-MAKING SIDE OF PRINTMAKING. THE STUDIO ALSO OFFERED ON AVERAGE TWO COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS PER MONTH THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, WHERE PEOPLE OF ALL AGES COULD LEARN PRINTMAKING, BOOKMAKING, PAPER MAKING, FIBER ART, AND MORE. THE PRESS STUDIO IS OPEN FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO PURCHASE DAY PASSES OR BECOME ANNUAL MEMBERS AND RECEIVE THEIR OWN STORAGE SPACES IN ARTSPACES FACILITIES. |
