Other Form 990-EZ, Part III, Statement of Program Service Accomplishments - Organizations Primary Exempt Purpose: The Mesa County Sheriff's Posse membership consists of men and women who volunteer their time and effort to aid the Mesa County Sheriff's Department in any situation called upon to render assistance within the capabilities of the Posse by providing unpaid additional security at community events; to support the Mesa County Search and Rescue Team in locating missing persons; to provide grants and scholarships to local high school 4H and FFA students; to provide use of the rodeo grounds at no charge to local equestrian associations including Mesa County 4H and CMU. The Posse exists as a charitable and educational entity, to further the interest of good horsemanship, to teach and practice good sportsmanship and to involve citizens and the youth of Mesa County in our activities. The Posse may sponsor rodeo-type activities and assist, if deemed necessary by the membership, any other worthwhile projects for the benefit of the Mesa County community.
