Briefly describe the organization’s mission: Provide programs and support to veterans and their families, the youth and our community. Promote the principles of the American Legion. We administer State grant funds and provide Post funds to support needy veterans. We support Legion programs for children, the community and emphasize Americanism activities. We provide military honors for veterans, as well as, provide and support programs that aid veterans in the community

Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. Section 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations are required to report the amount of grants and allocations to others, the total expenses, and revenue, if any, for each program service reported.

Assisted needy veterans with mortgage/rent payments, utilities, food and other assistance. This included financial assistance to needy veterans and their families through a grant from the State of Colorado which is supplemented by Post funds. The Post Service Officer manages this Program and works hand in hand with the County Services Officers. The veteran's needs and service record is vetted by the CSO. Upon validation of need by the CSO the PSO prepares a check using grant or Post funds and delivers it to the third party recipient owed the funds by the veteran. Food or transportation debit cards are provided directly to the veteran. Because of covid 19 restrictions and a change in County Service Office policy, our Post Service Officer was required to complete the entire process including the vetting of the veterans requesting support. These factors greatly reduced our ability to meet the needs of our veteran community.

Assist the youth and community through sponsored American Legion Programs including Boys State, Oratorical Contest, Legion Baseball, scholarships ( 3 total), Participated in community events on Memorial Day (2), Veterans Day, Littleton Western Welcome Week Parade, Fourth of July parade. The Post Color Guard presented the flag at the opening of high school football and basketball games. Support local organization including the Boy Scouts, Special Olympics, Toys for Tots and Muscular Dystrophy Association. Through the National organization, the Post supports the National Welfare Association, the Child Welfare Association, the National Emergency Fund and child Welfare Fund. Some events were curtailed or limited as a result of Covid restrictions.

The All Veterans Honor Guard (AVHG) and other programs supporting veterans in the community.Members of the Post AVHG performed more than 200 funeral services for veterans and their families at Fort Logan National Cemetery. At a minimum a service consist of an AVHG Commander, service Commander, Chaplain, bugler, Firing Team Commander and a seven man Firing Squad. Other assistance to vets includes financial support to victims of natural disasters, ,Rocky Mountain Honor Flight, Rocky Mountain Hyperbaric Institute (help vets with PTSD), Provide Christmas gifts to 30 Psych Ward patients at the VA Hospital. Maintain a storage locker of medical equipment to provide, as needed, to Post members and veterans in the community. Revenue is the result of donations from some of the families for whom Honor Burial Services were performed.

Return Reference Explanation
Schedule G, Part III, Line 17a Gaming Proceeds (profits) are required to be used within one year for authorized purposes. The Post has received authorization from the Secretary of State to retain some proceeds in a savings account for the eventual purchase of a facility for a Post home. We currently meet in a Community Recreation Center. The current exemption for our savings will expire in 9 years. During the covid period we have had to draw funds from our savings to meeting operational and program expenses.
Schedule G, Part III, Line 17b There is a State requirement to use your profits in one year from the time of receipt of those funds. The Post does have an approved authorization to save unexpended funds for the purpose of purchasing a facility for use by the Post. On occasion profits are put into savings (but not this fiscal year).

Needs are validated and veterans status is vetted by the PSO, Records are maintained for each case as well as assistance provided. Payments are made directly to a third party(landlord, utility, etc.) except for food cards. Any one individual is limited to one request for a maximum of $2,000 during the calendar year. The majority of funds are provided through a State ggrant which is supplemented by donations and Post funds, when necessary.

Schedule I, Part I, Line 2 Assistance made to individuals are documented including name, purpose, the veterans verification status and amount. Quarterly reports are made to the State documenting the use of funds and requesting an additional allotment of funds. In addition, the PSO makes monthly verbal reports to the other Post Officers. Grant funds and other veteran assistance funds are maintained in stand alone checking accounts. Grant funds are never commingled with other Post funds.
