| SCHEDULE E, LINE 3 | SAINT JOHN'S SCHOOL WILL NOT DISCRIMINATE, IN ITS OPERATION, ON THE BASIS OF RACE, COLOR, CREED, NATIONAL ORIGIN, SEX, MARITAL STATUS, AGE, RELIGION OR LACK THEREOF, OR HANDICAPPING CONDITIONS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAWS OF PUERTO RICO AND THE CONTINENTAL U.S. |
| SCHEDULE E, LINE 6 | ON NOVEMBER 12, 2020, THE SCHOOL RECEIVED 215,735 FROM THE COMMONWEALTH OF PUERTO RICO'S DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AS REIMBURSEMENTS FOR EXPENDITURES INCURRED BY THE SCHOOL IN CONNECTION WITH RESUMING ITS OPERATIONS AFTER HURRICANE MARA, PURSUANT TO THE IMMEDIATE AID TO RESTART SCHOOL OPERATIONS (RESTART) PROGRAM SPONSORED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. FUNDS RECEIVED UNDER THE RESTART PROGRAM HAVE BEEN INCLUDED AS PART OF OTHER INCOME IN THE ACCOMPANYING STATEMENT OF ACTIVITIES AND CHANGES IN NET ASSETS FOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2021. IN MARCH 2020, THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION DECLARED THE CORONAVIRUS DISEASE COVID-19 A GLOBAL PANDEMIC. THIS HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS DISEASE SPREAD ACROSS THE WORLD AND INTO PUERTO RICO AND RESULTED IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT ENFORCED BUSINESS LOCKDOWNS AND CURFEWS ON NON-ESSENTIAL SERVICES, AS WELL AS OTHER RESTRICTIONS ON SOCIAL AND BUSINESS ACTIVITIES INVOLVING LARGE NUMBERS OF INDIVIDUALS AND/OR PARTICIPANTS, INCLUDING SCHOOL ATTENDANCE. IN ORDER TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE ITS ACADEMIC PROGRAMS AND SERVICES WHILE SUBJECT TO SUCH RESTRICTIONS, THE SCHOOL IMPLEMENTED ONLINE, VIRTUAL AND OTHER REMOTELY DELIVERED COURSES AND SESSIONS, AS WELL AS OTHER WEB-BASED APPLICATIONS. IN ADDITION, GOVERNMENTS AROUND THE WORLD HAVE IMPOSED SIMILAR RESTRICTIONS AFFECTING WORKFORCES, CUSTOMERS, AND ECONOMIES GLOBALLY, WHICH HAVE RESULTED IN SIGNIFICANT VOLATILITY IN THE FINANCIAL MARKETS AND MAY RESULT IN DISRUPTIONS IN THE PRODUCTION AND AVAILABILITY OF CERTAIN SUPPLIES AND SERVICES. DURING THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2022, THE SCHOOL RECEIVED FEDERAL ASSISTANCE AID AMOUNTING TO 301,181 UNDER THE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE TO NON-PUBLIC SCHOOLS (EANS) PROGRAM, AS PART OF THE 2021 CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE AND RELIEF SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS ACT (CRRSA ACT). EANS FUNDS MUST BE USED FOR THE SAFELY REOPENING OF SCHOOLS, CONTINUING INSTRUCTION, AND ADDRESSING LEARNING LOSS, INCLUDING CLEANING/SANITIZING SCHOOL FACILITIES, CLEANING SUPPLIES, PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR TEACHERS AND LEADERS, EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY, PHYSICAL BARRIERS, AND VENTILATION SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS, AMONG OTHERS. THE SCHOOL USED EANS FUNDS FOR THE REIMBURSEMENT OF CERTAIN CAPITAL EXPENDITURES AMOUNTING TO 161,113, WITH THE REMAINING BALANCE USED FOR THE REIMBURSEMENT OF OTHER ALLOWABLE COSTS AND EXPENSES. THE SCHOOL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CUSTODY, MAINTENANCE, AND REPAIRS OF ALL ASSETS ACQUIRED UNDER THE EANS PROGRAM; HOWEVER, THE ACTUAL OWNERSHIP OF THESE ASSETS CORRESPONDS TO THE PUERTO RICO DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION (PRDE). SINCE IT IS THE EXPECTATION OF THE SCHOOL THAT THE PRDE WILL NOT REQUIRE THE RETURN OF THESE ASSETS AFTER HAVING BEEN IN USED BY THE SCHOOL, SUCH ASSETS HAVE BEEN INCLUDED AS PART OF PROPERTY AND EQUIPMENT IN THE ACCOMPANYING FINANCIAL STATEMENTS. IN ADDITION, DURING THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2022, THE SCHOOL RECEIVED 49,519 UNDER THE CHILD CARE DEVELOPMENT - BLOCK GRANT OF THE CARES ACT, WHICH PROVIDES FOR ADDITIONAL HAZARD PAY COMPENSATION TO CHILDCARE EMPLOYEES THAT MADE POSSIBLE OFFERING THE PPK-KINDER PROGRAM AT THE SCHOOL DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. FUNDS RECEIVED UNDER THIS GRANT WERE RECORDED AS A DEDUCTION OF THE CORRESPONDING EXPENSES FOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2022. DURING THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2021, THE SCHOOL RECOGNIZED A GAIN ON FORGIVENESS OF THE PPP LOAN OF 1,100,000, PURSUANT TO THE CARES ACT. IN ADDITION, IN JUNE 2021, THE SCHOOL RECEIVED 50,000 FOR THE REIMBURSEMENT OF CERTAIN EXPENDITURES INCURRED IN CONNECTION WITH THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, UNDER UNEMPLOYMENT PREVENTION FUND ADMINISTERED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND COMMERCE OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF PUERTO RICO, PURSUANT TO FEDERAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS UNDER THE CARES ACT AND OTHER RELATED LEGISLATION. SUCH FUNDS HAVE BEEN INCLUDED AS PART OF OTHER INCOME IN THE ACCOMPANYING STATEMENT OF ACTIVITIES AND CHANGES IN NET ASSETS FOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2021. |
