UNDER CARES, CRSSA, AND ARP, THE COLLEGE RECEIVED A TOTAL ALLOCATION OF APPROXIMATELY $4,200,000 FOR EMERGENCY AID TO STUDENTS, AND $5,333,000 FOR INSTITUTIONAL NEEDS. THE COLLEGE DISTRIBUTED STUDENT EMERGENCY GRANTS APPROXIMATELY $2,397,000 AND $1,831,000 DURING 2022 AND 2021, RESPECTIVELY. IN ADDITION, THE COLLEGE RECOGNIZED $2,514,000 AND $2,729,000 OF THE INSTITUTIONAL PORTION WHICH WAS RELATED TO OFFSET LOST REVENUE AND OTHER EXPENSES DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTABLE TO COSTS ARISING FROM COVID-19. IN ADDITION, THE COLLEGE WAS APPROVED ON JUNE 23, 2020, THE COLLEGE RECEIVED A PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM (PPP) TERM NOTE THROUGH FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF MICHIGAN OF APPROXIMATELY $6,008,000. THE NOTE WAS ISSUED PURSUANT TO THE CORONAVIRUS AID, RELIEF, AND ECONOMIC SECURITY (CARES) ACT'S PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM. THE NOTE STRUCTURE REQUIRED COLLEGE OFFICIALS TO CERTIFY CERTAIN STATEMENTS THAT PERMITTED THE COLLEGE TO QUALIFY FOR THE LOAN AND PROVIDES LOAN FORGIVENESS FOR A PORTION UP TO ALL OF THE BORROWED AMOUNT IF THE COLLEGE USES THE LOAN PROCEEDS FOR THE PERMITTED LOAN PURPOSES DESCRIBED IN THE NOTE AGREEMENT; THE COLLEGE WAS NOTIFIED THAT THIS FUNDING WAS FORGIVEN ON JUNE 16, 2021 AT WHICH TIME THE COLLEGE RECOGNIZED THE OUTSTANDING BALANCE AS REVENUE WITHIN GOVERNMENT APPROPRIATE AND GRANTS ON THE STATEMENT OF ACTIVITIES.
