STATEMENT ATTACHED TO AND MADE PART OF FORM 990 RETIRED EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION OF MASSACHUSETTS, INC. EIN 04-2429428 FYE 9/30/2022 Taxpayer hereby requests a waiver of any and all penalties for late filing the above-referenced tax return. The taxpayer is a 501(c)(6) organization. Because of the loss of their accounting firm, taxpayer was unable to file Form 990 for the previous year (FYE 9/30/2021) until May 2, 2023. The IRS has accepted that return and waived all penalties. This Form 990 could not be completed until the previous one was completed. Taxpayer has filed for an extension of due date for this return but is unable to confirm that the extension was granted. Mr. Coffey, the current corporation's treasurer, came on board during this period of uncertainty, and has worked diligently to bring the Association into compliance. The taxpayer believes that return will be filed on a timely basis prior to the expiration of the previously requested extension (8/15/2023). Based upon the above circumstances, the taxpayer has made every reasonable effort to comply with its tax obligations and believes that, going forward, it will be in full compliance with its tax obligations. The taxpayer believes that it has shown reasonable cause for the Internal Revenue Service to waive any and all late-filing penalties. The taxpayer hereby respectfully requests that all penalties be waived for reasonable cause.
