I am requesting that any penalties and interest assessed on the Rotary Club of Elkridge, Inc. be forgiven. The Rotary Club is a service club that supports local, national and worldwide communities. We do this by raising funds and giving our time and talents to try and make the world a better place. We are very active in Elkridge Maryland and surrounding communities. Our focus has been working with hospitals and schools. This year alone Club volunteers have worked to repair a home as part of the Howard County Rebuilding Together event. We made and distributed over 150 blankets and school supplies to disadvantaged middle school children prior to the start of the school year. For Tax Years 2020 and 2021 the Club failed to file the 990-EZ largely because it was inactive during the Covid-19 shutdown. Additionally, in 2018 a member stepped up to assume the vacant position of Treasurer without the knowledge to perform the required duties. The need to get reporting up to date recently became apparent. A new member, a retired accountant, has volunteered to get reporting current. He is working diligently to get the organization into compliance. We appreciate your consideration in not assessing penalties and interest on the return.
