SENIOR CITIZENS PARTICIPATE IN A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES SUCH AS EXERCISE, NUTRITIONAL EDUCATION, CRAFTS, GAMES, AND TRIPS. THE MEALS IMPROVE THE NUTRITIONAL HEALTH OF THE CLIENTS, WHILE ATTENDING THE SENIOR CENTER DECREASES THEIR SOCIAL ISOLATION. DURING THE 2021-2022 FISCAL YEAR, 7,353 CONGREGATE MEALS WERE SERVED IN YORK COUNTY AND 8,818 WERE SERVED IN CHESTER COUNTY. YCCOA ALSO DELIVERS A HOT MEAL, FIVE DAYS A WEEK OR A BOX OF FIVE FROZEN MEALS ONCE A WEEK, TO THE RESIDENCES OF HOME BOUND ELDERLY INDIVIDUALS IN BOTH YORK AND CHESTER COUNTIES WHO LIVE ALONE, ARE UNABLE TO PREPARE THEIR OWN MEALS, AND HAVE NO ONE WHO IS ABLE TO PROVIDE A MEAL FOR THEM. THIS SERVICE ENABLES MANY SENIORS TO REMAIN IN THEIR OWN HOMES, MAINTAIN THEIR INDEPENDENCE, AND STAY OUT OF NURSING HOMES. THIS FISCAL YEAR, YORK COUNTY PROVIDED 90,156 HOT AND 16,328 FROZEN MEALS IN YORK COUNTY AND 18,739 FROZEN MEALS IN CHESTER COUNTY. THE AGENCY ALSO PROVIDES SHELF STABLE EMERGENCY MEAL BAGS FOR ITS HOMEBOUND CLIENTS. THESE MEAL BAGS CONTAIN CANNED AND DRY GOODS THAT CAN BE CONSUMED WITHOUT COOKING AND HAVE THE NUTRITIONAL EQUIVALENCE OF SEVEN MEALS. THIS FISCAL YEAR, 2,352 SHELF STABLE MEALS WERE DELIVERED IN YORK COUNTY AND 973 WERE DELIVERED IN CHESTER COUNTY. |

YCCOA PROVIDED 45,792 PASSENGER MILES FOR THIS SERVICE DURING THE 2021-2022 FISCAL YEAR. YCCOA DELIVERED MEALS TO THE CONGREGATE CLIENTS WHO COULD NOT ATTEND THE SENIOR CENTERS. THE MILEAGE FOR MEAL DELIVERY TOTALED 13,428. ADDITIONALLY, YCCOA PROVIDES A DEMAND RESPONSE TRANSPORTATION SERVICE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND OPERATES UNDER THE NAME OF YORK COUNTY ACCESS. THIS SYSTEM TARGETS THE ELDERLY AND DISABLED TO ALLOW THEM ACCESS TO THE COMMUNITY AND MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS. THIS FISCAL YEAR, THESE SERVICES PROVIDED 217,996 PASSENGER MILES TO THE RESIDENTS OF YORK COUNTY. |
