| Schedule O: | Section B on top of first page: We did not check the Initial Return box in Section B because the initial return we filed was the Form 990-N in 2020. ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................Part 1 - Line 1 Contributions, Gifts, Grants: The Shepherds Office did not host or attend any in-person Local Fundraising Venues or Gaming Events during the year. In 2022, the Shepherds Office participated in an On-Line giving day called Giving Tuesday and the on-line Giving Day in Delaware called Do More 24 Delaware. In total, we received on-line donations in 2022 from 583 members of the public through these various fundraising on-line platforms. There are no fundraising fees to participate on-line and the average individual donation amounts received in 2022 through these on-line platforms was $212 per donor. The only cost associated with these on-line giving days and on-line platforms was to mail out Thank you cards to our individual donors. We also received in-kind donations during 2022 of expired can goods and various food items from local grocery stores and we receive used clothing items from the public. We do not accept household items or furniture items because we focus on helping the homeless who live outside or outdoors. We estimated the fair market values of these in-kind food and used clothing items and included this in the Line 1 total. ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Part 1 - Line 16 OTHER EXPENSES of $112,839 includes the following: Food for Free Meals-Water-Coffee-Meal Container Supplies $ 36,255, Brown Bag Ministry packed with 10 essential items $14,855, Logistics, Set-Up & Storage $ 9,315, Housekeeping & Trash Removal $ 21,860, Clothing/Shoes $ 2,092, Camping Set-Ups/Gear&Tents $ 5,788, Sheltering-Motel moms/group homes $ 11,410, Bus Passes $ 903, Hygiene Needs/Toiletries $ 284, Blankets-Hats-Gloves-Handwarmers-Propane-Buddy Heaters $ 3,926, Bikes-Bike Repairs $ 4,585, Thank You Cards $ 1,568. .................. TOTAL OTHER EXPENSES: $ 112,839 ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Part 3 - Line 28 Program Service Accomplishments: The Shepherds Office is open every day except Sunday. Our location has a lot of visibility. We are well known in our local community and easily accessible by people in need. Close by to us is the local psychiatric hospital, the Federally Qualified Health Center, the nearby state prison and the local State Service Center. We see a lot of poverty and crisis situations filled with chaos and desperation. Our local grassroots volunteer team serves on the front lines of despair, untreated mental illness, hunger, homelessness, loneliness, unemployment, severe addiction and hopelessness. There are approximately 100 homeless persons who live outdoors in the Georgetown, DE area. We also serve motel moms and car dwellers who are the invisible homeless. Each month over 2022, we gave out approximately 2,000 Free Grab & Go Hot Healthy Meals. Each hot meal is home made and is sealed inside a white Styrofoam Clam Shell Container. With each hot meal, we also provide a Brown Bag packed with bottled water, a fork, spoon, wet & dry napkins, various snacks, fresh fruit, apple sauce and crackers. We have Free Lunches on Mondays, Thursdays and many Saturdays from 11AM to 1 PM. We have Free Dinners on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4PM to 6PM. We also provide Free Bread, Free Food and Free Clothing as requested by our guests. In addition, we provide Free Water Bottles, Free Coffee, Free Hot Cocoa, Free Wi-Fi, and a Free Mailing Address. We also provide Free Bikes, Free Bus Passes, Free Provisions, Camping Gear and Supplies to our homeless, hungry or lonely guests. Together, we have created a place of hope, kindness, light, compassion and connection for our guests. Any person who is hungry or lonely is also welcome. During the day, we welcome the poor, the sick, the downtrodden, the elderly, the car dwellers, the returning citizens from the Georgetown prison, the injured, the unemployed, the active drug users, the mentally ill or the disabled. We call our place the Office because we are open during the day and during the week days when the other churches are closed. As a first step, we provide immediate food, clothing and water with no questions asked. After that, we help our guests find a place to sleep at a local motel or within a group home setting. As a last resort, we help them to set up a sheltered place to sleep outside at a campsite nearby while also supplying at no cost to our guest a tent and all the necessary camping gear, provisions and supplies. As they attend our daily meals, we also help our guests to connect with addiction treatment/medical services or to other social service resources located in the community around us. We even invite other non-profits to our location so that they can do their outreach activities with our guests during our Free Meal times and during our Free Clothing events that we have each day from 9 am to 4 pm. The Shepherds Office also helps our guests to find employment out in the community and also to apply for long-term housing. Over time, as our guests are ready to engage, our team of helpers and volunteers point them toward their sobriety, stability, and mental health recovery. We won a Governors Volunteer Appreciation Award because of having a dedicated team of over 50 volunteers. We call many of our volunteers Crock Pot People. Our volunteers are involved in many ways at the Shepherds Office in Georgetown, DE. They visit regularly. They work diligently and consistently. We are happy that they chose our organization to serve at as a Volunteer. On average, each volunteer serves with us for about 10 to 15 hours each week. Some of them travel by bus, so this is additional time and effort they dedicate. They are awesome people who know how to connect to the nearby social services network in the Georgetown DE community when our guests are ready to take the next steps to improve their situation. We collaborate and team up with each other to find solutions to various problems that we navigate and solve daily. We all jump right in and try to help out. Our volunteers are great role models for others because of their own lived experiences. They have a deep compassion and understanding about lifes difficulties and they know how to help our guests to find their resilience, grit and strength while in the storms of life. Because of this, our team of volunteers have solid and practical ideas for helping our neighbors in need to accomplish their goals. With a humble compassion, our volunteers bring joy, hope, respect and dignity to our homeless, hungry or lonely neighbors in Georgetown, DE. Our volunteers help us to accomplish our mission to help the homeless, hungry or lonely. In addition to providing food and clothing, we are sometimes referred to as The Jesus Office. Jesus is our Shepherd and this is why we are called ?The Shepherds Office. As a Faith-Based ?neighbors helping neighbors organization, we believe that we are the Hands and Feet of our Shepherd Jesus. Our hope is to love and care for the poor as Jesus teaches us in the Bible so that no one falls through the cracks. We dont expect our guests to believe as we do. We want to serve and help others who are hurting in our community unconditionally. During 2022, we held 104 Worship Services, 156 Bible Studies, 312 Morning Prayers/Praises Meetings. We host Worship Services with Communion open to our guests and to the public every Wednesday and Friday from 6PM to 8PM. We also meet for a Morning Prayer/Praise Meeting every day except Sunday from 8:30AM to 9AM. We also have Bible Studies on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6PM to 8PM. (Note: No one lives or sleeps at our Shepherds Office location overnight unless it is 32 degrees or below outside.) |
