| Form 990, Part III, Line 4d | OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: NuclearWakeUpCall.Earth:NuclearWakeUpCall.Earth is a nonprofit, nonpartisan initiative dedicated to catalyzing efforts in US-Russian relations to reduce the escalating nuclear danger and to working with people in Russia and all countries to move towards a world without nuclear weapons. We work to achieve our objectives through creative community engagement, dialogue, education, film, mediation, indigenous wisdom, music and cultural exchange, as well as peacebuilding initiatives to advance peace and reduce the risk of nuclear war. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Ulu Vaa:We had some good forward movements with Ulu Vaa this year. We crossed the Alenuihaha channel 3 times this year, twice with the 24ft double hull and once with the 16ft double hull. bridging ourselves with some of the communities. We made connections with the Hana and Lahaina communities to bridge our program with their existing programs in the future as we continue to blossom. Our goals is to continue paving the path for traditional Polynesian celestial navigation as well as help spark the next generation into pursuing Hawaiian canoe culture, sailing, and navigation. We purchased two sets of James Wharram boat plans, one for a 37ft and one for a 27ft double hull canoe. We have been currently getting ready and preparing more funding to execute the build for the 27ft waa. This new waa will open up many doors for us to pursue our goals! OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: Mohala/Crown Flower:Mohala is a wellness collective based on Maui, serving local community members and international clients, in support of healing, transformation, personal development, nervous system regulation, and spiritual growth. Our aim to is to guide participants through healing practices in order to empower them to bring these tools into daily life, to enhance their ability to integrate and release trauma, navigate the stimulation of modern culture, enliven their embodiment, cultivate presence, and spark joy. Our intention is to introduce holistic healing systems as an alternative or complement to western medicine and to empower individuals to trust the healer within, with the support of the intelligence of nature. In this current year, Mohala served hundreds of individuals in both community events and individual client work. The specific intention of the donor directed funds, received in collaboration with INCF, was for the creation of an immersive retreat serving firefighters, veterans, and first responders on their path of healing, as they integrate the challenges they have faced in their line of service. We are happy to report that the planning, organizing and application and registration process is complete, and the retreat will be hosted on Maui Feb 2-6 for a group of 10 individuals, with 6 full scholarships and 4 partial scholarships. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: E'IMI:E'IMI NA'AUAO MAI UKA A I KAI accurately encapsulates our entire mission. The very center of our being yearns for the mountain and the ocean for our very sustenance. We will be taking all those who come along for the journey back into the past and catapult them into the future. Mauka beholds the ancient ruins of terraces that yielded enough crops to feed all of Lahaina. Those terraces have since been restored to its natural beauty and intended use. We are restoring water flow in Kahoma that will keep our taro patches flourishing. We have also placed priority on the ocean fronting Lahaina. Much of the reef life has been adversely affected, so we have initiated the limu restoration, with focus on what caused the damage and how to repair that. The taro patches need constant maintenance to keep the brush back and to clear all pipes of debris to insure water flow. We were able to achieve our charitable purpose through: training sails, maintenance of the wa?a and escort boat, continued education and training in each field. Our ultimate goal is to connect the community to a place on the west side of the island to serve as a template that they can individually take back to their respective community. We continue to perpetuate all things Hawaiian and endeavor to collaborate with other active leaders in their craft. Preparing the keiki with strategies to sail, maintaining kalo in Kaloma to the composition of our very own mele for our wa'a. Community members near and far call on us to offer their level of expertise or to employ our ideas and efforts. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 9: Konihiki Restoration Project:Aloha as chairman of the konohiki restoration project I would like to thank and express our gratitude to the "INCF X and Their contributions to us in this past year 2022. We were able to cover some operating cost as well as fulfilling some of our goals to promote cultural awareness and knowledge. Which includes crafting together our workbook for cultural programs and items needed for the building our of live classroom. We hosted and facilitated numerous community meetings that were important to local issues and required council process. Also documenting elders and their family history to Hawaii was a great activity that included the multigenerational effort. Thank you so much for the support and guidance, yours truly, Kaimi Hermosura. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 10: Love and Bananas:The purpose of the Love & Bananas film is to raise awareness around the abuse that Asian elephants face from the tourism industry in Thailand. 2022 was a year of continued growth as Love & Bananas was viewed by audiences in classrooms, theaters and homes as part of our fundraising initiative to help Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Elephant Nature Park is run by CNN Hero, Lek Chailert, and, in 2022, Love & Bananas raised funds to assist Lek in rescuing and caring for abused elephants. Love & Bananas is viewed nightly at Elephant Nature Park as volunteers and tourists gather around to learn more about why this is such an important issue. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 11: Steelgrass Farm, LLC. DBA Lydgate Farms:Farming Support Grant: Kauai agriculture has never recovered from the loss of sugarcane and pineapple. Production of food crops has steadily declined as the modern era progresses and cheap mainland produce is readily available to consumers. However, local agricultural production is vital as it preserves natural resources and creates a basis for food self-sustainability. Lydgate Farms creates value-added products from its crops: cacao, vanilla, honey, coffee. Lydgate Farms is working to improve this self-sustainability by creating a market for local grown green vanilla beans. Lydgate Farms is currently engaged in a grant funded project called The Lydgate Farms Vanilla Partnership Program. Funds distributed by INCF were used as matching funds in this grant. The grant revolves around a project being conducted at Lydgate Farms which constitutes the first modern scientific vanilla research in the Hawaiian islands. The $25,000 in grant funds processed through INCF were used to support creating two raised and covered lanais that we used to improve the capacity of our tour program. Through grant funds we permitted, laid the foundations for, and hand built these structures. These structures are now in use, and have helped us increase our revenue. Increased revenue is invested back into the staff and farm to create growth in our agricultural industry. |
