1	Briefly describe the organization’s mission or most significant activities: Primary activities are associated with fire fighting, rescue work and EMS services for the residents of the Apalachin Fire District. EMS calls average 2-3/day, fire/rescue calls 80-100/year. NOTE: A change in 2022 in New York State General Municipal Law (GML 209-b(4)) makes it so fire departments are now allowed to bill for ambulance and emergency services provided effective 07/2022. Our fire department started to bill commercial insurance carriers and Medicare/Medicaid for cost recovery of services provided and equipment used in 11/2022 retroactive to PCRs for service submitted in 09/2022. Paid staff costs and equipment cost recovery from these insurance proceeds will be then used to offset expenses incurred by the Apalachin Fire District to the benefit of the municipality's taxpayers.

Form 990, Part III, Line 2	Implemented EMS services insurance recovery billing per New York State municipal law change 07/2022. Retroactive to 09/2022. These recoveries from private and public insurance are used to offset the costs of EMS paid staff and equipment use incurred by the municipal tax payers of the Apalachin Fire District.
Form 990, Part III, Line 3	PCR (Patient Care Reports) now are being used to collect relevant insurance information for patients and used for later billing via a 3rd party firm (Professional Ambulance Billing, Williamsville, NY) on behalf of the fire department.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 4	Our articles of incorporation were amended to support ability to implement EMS insurance recoveries. Portions of our departmental By-laws were modified to add clarification and support implementation of EMS insurance recovery activities.
