Explanation
Schedule A, Part I, Line 10
The organization is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that receives more than a third of its operating funds from membership dues, fees, charitable contributions, food concession food sales, and activity entry fees. We collect dues and keep only a portion (41%) for our own operation in 2022. This recurs each year. In the past 5 years we have averaged keeping 46% of the dues we collect for membership. The balance is sent as a pass-through to our National headquarter at Izaak Walton League of America, Inc. located at 1707 Conservation Lane, Gaithersburg, MD 20878. We have the option of raising the total dues in order to raise the percentage of the total we keep but have to balance the potential of losing membership with actually increasing the dollars we are able to keep.
Schedule A, Part III, Line 12
Other income includes special event income, support of the City of Fredericksburg Mott's Run fishing tournament for children, apiary honey production donations (Honeybears), and logo apparel sales. Not every item occurs each year and honey and apparel products are not always available or plentiful, so the income from these sources is variable year to year.
