The organization's leader worked with a return preparer to file the 2022 return, relying on the preparer's expertise. However, the preparer was unaware that the return had to be filed electronically, and he did not inform the organization's leaders until it was too late to find an alternate professional to prepare and electronically file the return. The organization's Treasurer, upon discovering the issue, set to work on trying to get the return filed electronically as soon as possible. He has worked diligently to get the return filed as close to the due date as possible. Now that the organization's leaders are aware that informational returns must be filed electronically, they will ensure that going forward work with professionals that can accommodate this filing requirement. The organization's leaders believe that they exercised due diligence in attempting to meet their requirement to file the return timely, and for this reason they request that any late filing fees be waived.
