Schedule D, Part X, Line 2 The Organization performed an evaluation of uncertainty in income taxes for the years ended August 31, 2022 and 2021 and determined that there were no mattes that would require recognition in the consolidated financial statements or that may have any effect on its tax-exempt status. U.S. Federal jurisdiction and/or the various states and local jurisdictions in which the Organization files ta returns are open for examination; however, there are currently no examinations pending or in progress. It is the Organization's policy to recognize interest and/or penalties related to uncertainty in income taxes, if any, in income tax expense. As of August 31, 2022 and 2021, the Organization had no accruals for interest and/or penalties.

Form 990, Part III, Line 4d NWF Action Fund educates its members on important conservation and wildlife issues through its website, email lists and social media channels. NWF Action Fund also facilitates member communication with legislative and administrative officials through petitions, phone calls and emails. In addition, NWF Action Fund works in coalition with other organizations to promote civic engagement and participation in important federal and state elections.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b NWF Action Fund's Finance department compiles data and schedules for the IRS Form 990 from audited statements. The draft return is reviewed by the Executive Director and General Counsel. The NWF Action Fund's board members are provided with a draft copy of the 990 return. A Finance Committee meeting is held where the full board is invited to participate in discussing the 990 prior to filing. The Action Fund's Finance staff, General Counsel and Executive Director address and answer any questions the board may have.
Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 The NWF Action Fund makes its governing documents and conflict of interest policy available to the public upon Request. The Action Fund makes its audited financial and 990s available to the public on its own website and upon request.
Form 990, Part VII, Section A, Line 1a NWF Action Fund is part of a common paymaster and all employees working on Action Fund projects are reported under the National Wildlife Federation's payroll. The Action Fund reimbursed NWF for compensation paid on its behalf. All compensations are reported in Column D even though NWF is the common paymaster.
