28 Banquet This is the chambers main fundraiser. We choose 5 members of thecommunity and honor them for their service to others. The categories are:Agriculturist of the Year, Business of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Public Servant of the Year.We have a dinner and program to spotlight how theyve contributed to making Nyssa abetter place. We also have an auction of donated items as the fundraiser. The last 3 years weve averaged 250 people at the dinner. The FFA and Key Club students serve the food, so we donate to both groups. 29 Thunderegg Days is our annual community three day event. We have it on the schoolgrounds with food, rock, craft vendors, games for the kids, fun run and otheractivities. We invite local talent like bands, singers, etc. try to get as much of the community involved as possible. We average 50 vendors and roughly 250-300 people per day. People come and eat and visit with neighbors they haven't seen in a while. We end with a fun game, community team participation and spectators with a firework show as the finale. 30 The About Town is our small local newspaper put on by the chamber. The communitycontributes articles, local businesses advertise, and we try to keep everyone in the know about whats going on in town. It is distributed to every address in our zip code which is 2,300 copies, and mailed to chamber members out of town, an additional 50 or so.
