What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? The association provided activities for 356 members who are adults over the age of 50 in the great Portland Oregon metropolitan area. The activities included hiking (at 4 levels), paddling, skiing (downhill and cross country), snowshoeing, biking and social activities (picnic and evening events with guest speakers related to mission. The association also coordinated trip in the pacific northwest which were paid for by the attendees.

Explanation:
The Cascade Prime Timer 2021 tax return was rejected by the IRS in Sept 2022. I spent from Sept. 2022 to March 2023 contesting the reason our tax return was rejected. On April 8, 2023 I received a letter from the IRS stating that they confirmed they issued us a letter in March 2009 that they recognized us as tax-exempt under IRS Code Section 501c7. Note: The basis for the rejection was that the IRS thought we were a 501c4 organization. It did not occur to me that I might need to resubmit the tax return to the IRS for 2021 until I received an email from the firm, Form990, on Sept 28, 2023 reminding me our 2021 return was rejected. I was under the impression that the IRS had reversed their position and accepted the initial return. Over the last few days I have been reflecting on this situation. I have decided I should resubmit the 2021 return.
