| Part III, line 28 (continued): | GLOBAL BANJARA BAPTIST MINISTRIES, INDIAANNUAL REPORT 2022 Special motivational & Medical Camps:One of the regular programs of GBBM is conducting medical camps in rural areas. This year our staff members have conducted motivational camps to encourage individuals and families who were depressed from covid, financial hardship, or loss of loved ones. Sujatha Naik and Srinivas Naik have been a great inspiration and encouragement to all of the participants. Life Transformation Seminar: A seminar on life transformation was conducted in Hyderabad from March 14-16, 2022, for the people caught in bad habits and depression. Participants were taught the value of our lives, how to keep up our health, and how to overcome addiction. 3-Day Monthly Training for all GBBM Staff: All GBBM staff gather at Gurraputhanda every month for 3 full days to share ministry reports and pray for each other and to learn Biblical Lessons to be taught in our House Churches each month. Pastor Naik gives at least 4 lessons each month to be taught to leaders and congregations. Christmas Celebrations:GBBM ministers in more than 300 Banjara villages, conducted Christmas celebrations this year in December to share the love of God and why Jesus came to this world. Thousands attended these celebrations and were blessed. In every place we conducted Christmas celebrations followed by a nice fellowship dinner prepared by local Christian believers. Free Clothes & Blankets Distributed:During the Christmas celebrations, free clothes and blankets were distributed to the ederly and to the poor. More than 300 families received new clothes this year. GBBM is ministering in over 370 Banjara villages with the help of 30 men. School Project: ALETHEIA BANJARA SCHOOLABS was established in July 2009 under the aegis of GBBM, an organization with an ardent desire to educate the children of Gurrapu Thanda region and to share love of the Lord Jesus. The past 13 years have been eventful, exhilarating and encouraging. With the relentless prayers of our well-wishers all these years, our Lords blessings have been with us, and we are growing in faith in our wonderful Lord with his constant guidance, protection, and wisdom. We praise the Lord for all the good deeds He is doing for us. The Banjara Community was nomadic until recently, but now leads a settled life. The Community members lack technical skills and work as small-time farmers and unskilled laborers. Their farmlands are not fertile and the rainfall in the region is limited. The Community is poverty-stricken. The literacy rate among the Community is very low (estimated conservative figure is 25%). Education for the Banjara Community is not only important but also essential for the economic, social, and spiritual uplift. ABS is a powerful tool to reach the community for elevating their quality of life and could be instrumental in spreading the word of God among the Community. ABS engages itself in many activities for the physical, mental, social, and spiritual growth of the children and to help them evolve into strong leaders with a Christian foundation. Praise be to the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for faithfulness, guidance and providing during the year. We thank the donors of Aletheia Banjara School for their prayers and financial support. We appreciate the sincere efforts and perseverance of the teachers for their dedication to train and mold the students with academic and spiritual knowledge. We acknowledge the hard work and tireless work of other staff members who have contributed to the successful running of the school. We appreciate the GBBM-India Board for their godly leadership throughout. The academic year 2022-23 commenced in June 2022. Last year the schools started in September due to Covid. This year, the whole year went well without any hurdles or lockdowns. We have experienced a few difficulties and drawbacks during the academic year. The major challenge was the loss of over one hundred students in this year. There are many factors which contribute to this sad occurence. There was a severe drought one hand and raining for too long period on the other, which ruined the crops planted. The parents of the students are basically farm laborers, with only a few owning their own farmland on small plots of one-half to three acres in size. Due to adverse weather in the region, they had to migrate to faraway places where they could find livelihood. They could neither take their children along with them nor leave them in the village. They were looking for a boarding facility which Aletheia could not provide. Aletheia is unique in many ways. It not only teaches high quality academic education in the English language, but also imparts spiritual knowledge to the students. It was very sad that many students, who have been receiving quality education and have been growing in the word of God and faith, had to leave the school; more so, because of the lost opportunity of hearing the Word. If only the school had enough boarding facility for these students too, we could have avoided this situation. Academic Activities: In the past, our School was short of well-trained language teachers. However, this year we have teachers who are language experts in teaching Telugu, Hindi and English. The present-day world is very competitive and English language skills and expertise in English communication play a major role. Hence, more emphasis is placed on this aspect. ABS still looking for a more efficient English-speaking Administrator. We also have trained and experienced teachers who derive pleasure in teaching Mathematics, General Science, History and Social Studies. Special care and attention are being given to the students who are behind in their studies. The concerned subject teachers spend a bit of extra time with the students to help them to cope up with others. Special competitions and incentives are offered to encourage the students who are weak in studies. Extracurricular Activities: Sports and Games: In many schools in and around the region, physical education takes a backseat. Aletheia gives importance to overall growth of a student, i.e., educational, physical, spiritual, mental, and social. The school time-table allotts time for sports and games so that every student is involved in some kind of activity. We found that students are enthusiastic to participate in sports and games. The school conducts many sports and games. Competitions in sports and games are a regular affair. Power Drink and Nutritious Lunch: Aletheia is concerned about the health of its students. To address the malnutrition problem, Aletheia is providing all of the students with balanced and healthy power drink called Jaava which is made of variety of cereals and millets in the mornings. Jaava is comprised of finger millet, pearl millet, groundnut, wheat, sorghum, green gram, soybean, and jaggery (traditional non-centrifugal cane sugar) which provides the required nutrition. Along with Jaava, Aletheia is also providing a nutritious lunch which consists of rice, healthy vegetables, and toordal (split pigeon peas, lentils). Students enjoy this meal greatly and this may the be the only sumptuous meal in the day for them. The effect of Jaava and lunch has considerable impact on the health of students, which is evident in very looks of the students, who are healthy, agile and smart. Aletheia again is unique in this aspect too. Aletheia is the only Christian/private school in the region. Even though other private schools anywhere in the State collect heavy fees from their students, such service is never provided. It is only Aletheia which caters to the nutrition aspect of the students. Drawing and Painting: Aletheia boasts of students with vast talent in drawing and painting. They have time and again demonstrated their drawing talent in making beautiful greeting cards. Bal Brigade India (Boys Brigade): ABS had introduced a new activity called Bal Brigade India in 2015, which is affiliated to Boys Brigade, an international Christian student organization. Aletheia is proud to be the pioneer in bringing Boys Brigade to India. The objectives of the Bal Brigade are:1. To help members to develop and grow in Christian character.2. To train members to become loyal and responsible citizens.3. To promote physical fitness and develop leadership potential. The Bal Brigade activities comprise not only physical training but also character-building classes which equip our students with life skills essential for the successful Christian way of living. While the character-building classes make our students morally strong and spiritually faithful to our Lord, the physical activities inculcate self-discipline, self-confidence, and concern and sense of responsibility for the society. Our 10th Class Students: We are very glad to inform that all ABS Students passed in distinction 10th Grade Board Examinations conducted by the Telangana State Government. Our students even stood first among all the sc |
