1a The Foundation operates the Heritage Farm Museum and Village in
1a Huntington, WV which is a collection of over 20 restored buildings.
1a The goal is to educate visitors about the heritage and culture of
1a Appalachia. Usage of the Farm's facilities is an important avenue
1a toward our goal of having visitors "Experience the Past, Appreciate
1a Today and Dream for the Future".
1b Guided Tours of the Museums of Progress, Transportation & Mill,
1b Industry and Agriculture as well as the restored school house,
1b country store, blacksmith shop & Saw Mill allow visitors to
1b experience life in early Appalachia as well as the major inventions
1b that changed the world. Thousand of visitors took guided tours of
1b the Museum in 2022. The Farm Zoo is made available for special
1b events with small children allowing them to experience "hands-on"
1b farm chores and to learn about the importance of animals on the farm.
1b Heritage Farm Foundation continues to improve the Adventure Park
1b with activities designed to embrace the spirit of Appalachian
1b Adventure. With the addition of the Nature Center themed with
1b "An Appalachian Backyard Experience" where visitors are able to learn
1b about the wildlife of Appalchia while actally being surrounded
1b by live animals native to the area.
