Briefly describe the organization’s mission: We are dedicated to a single purpose: empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. We accomplish this by ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them; fighting for the interests of America's injured heroes on Capitol Hill; and educating the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans transitioning back to civilian life.

Explanation:

Requesting penalty against Disabled American Veterans, Department of Utah for non-filing/late filing be removed. We had extenuating circumstances in the last few years due to the COVID pandemic. As a fraternal veteran's organization for disabled veterans, our membership, staff and full-time employees (also disabled/high risk veterans) were heavily impacted in 2020 and 2021, which is the filing period of this return. Our 2 main employees fell ill and new people had to step in, along with other volunteers that were not available. It took some time to get the records, then to review and understand them. There has been a long learning curve, but we are finally catching up. Paper 990 was sent to IRS, then returned due to efile requirement. We want to use our funds for veterans support, and we are having a hard time finding reliable employees. The return was file as soon as possible after understanding requirements. Thank you
