ADDITIONALLY, THROUGH THE PROGRAM, IT SERVICES 500 PUBLIC TRASH AND RECYCLING RECEPTACLES, YEAR-ROUND. THE SANITATION TEAM POWER-WASHED ALL SIDEWALKS THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT, AS WELL AS MANHATTAN PARK, ALBANY PLAZA, COENTIES SLIP PARK, AND BOWLING GREEN PARK. THE SANITATION TEAM REMOVED 1,653 INSTANCES OF GRAFFITI AND STICKERS, INCLUDING PAINTING OVER STORE GATES, CONSTRUCTION SITE BOARDS AND BUILDING DOORWAYS. DURING SPRING AND SUMMER, THEY PAINTED OVER 440 PIECES OF STREET FURNITURE, SUCH AS HYDRANTS, BOLLARDS, MAILBOXES, STREET POLES, THE BENCHES AT MANHATTAN PARK, AND MORE. THE TEAM CLEANED, SANITIZED, EMPTIED, AND MAINTAINED ALL BIGBELLY TRASH AND RECYCLING UNITS, AND REMOVED TRASH FROM STREETS AND SIDEWALKS. THEY COORDINATED WITH THE NEW YORK CITY DEPARTMENT OF SANITATION TO REMOVE 138 INSTANCES OF ILLEGAL DUMPING, INCLUDING ITEMS LIKE COUCHES, MATTRESSES, WASHER MACHINES, AIR CONDITIONERS, RETAIL FOOD REFRIGERATORS, FREEZERS, AND OTHER ITEMS. THE ALLIANCE SANITATION DEPARTMENT ALSO CLEANED, MAINTAINED AND COLLECTED ORGANIC WASTE FROM 10 PUBLIC COMPOST BINS THAT ARE PART OF A PILOT PROGRAM LAUNCHED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF SANITATION TO PROVIDE SECURE, 24/7-ACCESSIBLE COMPOST DROP OFF LOCATIONS. |
| PART III - LINE 4B | COMMUNICATIONS, MARKETING AND PROMOTION: THE DOWNTOWN ALLIANCE CONTINUED TO WORK AS A MEGAPHONE FOR ALL THAT HAPPENED IN LOWER MANHATTAN, SHARING WITH RESIDENTS AND VISITORS' INFORMATION ABOUT EVERYTHING FROM ONGOING EVENTS TO ART INSTALLATIONS TO THE BEST OUTDOOR DINING SPOTS. THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS, BLOG, NEWSLETTERS AND OTHER MEANS OF COMMUNICATION. THE ALLIANCE LAUNCHED A NEW INSTAGRAM FILTER THAT ALLOWED USERS TO PLACE THREE-DIMENSIONAL RENDERINGS OF THE STATUE OF LIBERTY, THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE, FEARLESS GIRL, THE OCULUS AND ONE WORLD TRADE CENTER ANYWHERE IN THEIR OWN HOMETOWN. CAMPAIGNS THIS YEAR INCLUDED THE "ART IS ALL AROUND" BIG BELLY CAMPAIGN, AS WELL AS A HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE HIGHLIGHTING DOWNTOWN'S RETAILER AND STARRING A PROMINENT NEW YORK CITY SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCER. THE ALLIANCE ALSO PUBLISHED THE "SHOP DINE GUIDE," OUR HOMEGROWN COMPILATION OF THE SHOPS, RESTAURANTS, AND AMENITIES HERE IN LOWER MANHATTAN. THE DINE AROUND DOWNTOWN COMMUNITY FOOD FESTIVAL RETURNED IN THE SPRING AND "DINE AROUND DOWNTOWN: COOKING AT HOME EDITION" CONTINUED GROWING ITS AUDIENCES IN 2022 WITH SEASONAL WINTER, SUMMER, AND UPCOMING HOLIDAY EPISODES. THE "LM LIVE" PROGRAM FEATURED CONVERSATIONS WITH INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS IN LOWER MANHATTAN ON TOPICS THAT INCLUDE ENTREPRENEURSHIP, CURRENT EVENTS, THE FUTURE OF WORK AND CAREER ADVANCEMENT. EVENTS INCLUDE A MIX OF IN-PERSON WOMEN'S BREAKFASTS, "ASK THE EXPERT" SESSIONS THAT FEATURE LOWER MANHATTAN EXPERTS DISCUSSING ACTIONABLE TAKEAWAYS RELATED TO THEIR BACKGROUNDS AND OUTDOOR MOVIE SCREENINGS AND CONVERSATIONS. THE ALLIANCE'S TOURISM EFFORTS INCLUDED HOSTING A QUARTERLY TOURISM EXCHANGE WHERE A HUNDRED OR MORE PROFESSIONALS IN THE TOURISM INDUSTRY COME TOGETHER TO HEAR FROM EXPERTS, MAKE NEW CONNECTIONS AND COORDINATE STRATEGY AS WELL AS ATTENDING NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL BUYERS EVENTS TO DIRECTLY MAKE CONNECTIONS FOR TOURISM PARTNERS. THE TECHNOLOGY TEAM MAINTAINED FREE WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS IN SEVERAL PUBLIC SPACES ALL ALONG WATER STREET, FRONT STREET, THE HUDSON RIVER AND THE EAST RIVER ESPLANADE SOUTH OF FULTON STREET AND MANY OTHER LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT LOWER MANHATTAN. |
| PART III - LINE 4C | PUBLIC SAFETY: THE ALLIANCE PUBLIC SAFETY PROGRAM PROVIDED SAFETY AND SECURITY TO LOWER MANHATTAN BUSINESSES AND RESIDENTS. UNIFORMED GUARDS WORKED TOGETHER IN COLLABORATION WITH THE NEW YORK POLICE DEPARTMENT AND OTHER CITY AGENCIES TO ADDRESS QUALITY OF LIFE CONDITIONS IN LOWER MANHATTAN. IN FISCAL YEAR 2022, THE PUBLIC SAFETY PROGRAM HAD OVER 72,000 CONTACTS AND INTERACTIONS WITH BUSINESS AND RESIDENTS. THEY WORKED WITH THE NYPD FIRST PRECINCT AND NEW YORK CITY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IN A JOINT OPERATION TO ADDRESS ILLEGAL VENDOR ACTIVITY. THEY CALLED IN OVER 1,500 ILLEGAL VENDORS AND VENDOR VIOLATIONS. THE JOINT OPERATION RESULTED IN NUMEROUS SUMMONS ISSUED AND CONFISCATION OF ILLEGAL VENDOR PROPERTY TO ADDRESS QUALITY OF LIFE CONDITIONS. ADDITIONALLY, THEY REPORTED 4,324 HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS IN NEED OF SERVICES. WORKING TOGETHER WITH THE NYC DEPARTMENT OF HOMELESS SERVICES AND BOWERY RESIDENTS' COMMITTEE HOMELESS OUTREACH TEAMS, 80 HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS WERE PLACED INTO TRANSITIONAL HOUSING. THE ALLIANCE MADE SAFETY AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN THE DISTRICT A PRIORITY BY CREATING SEVERAL HIGH VISIBILITY POSTS IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS DURING EVENING HOURS.
