PROCEEDS FROM THE PPP LOAN WERE USED FOR PAYROLL COSTS, HEALTH CARE BENEFITS, AND OTHER QUALIFYING EXPENSES, AS DEFINED IN THE CARES ACT. AS PROVIDED BY THE CARES ACT, CERTAIN AMOUNTS UNDER THE PPP LOAN AGREEMENT MAY BE FORGIVEN IF THEY ARE USED FOR QUALIFYING EXPENSES. IN FEBRUARY 2021, THE SCHOOL RECEIVED THE FORMAL NOTIFICATION FROM THE SBA CONFIRMING THE FULL FORGIVENESS OF THE PPP LOAN, AS PROVIDED BY THE CARES ACT, ACCORDINGLY, THE PROCEEDS FROM THE PPP LOAN WERE RECORDED AS A GAIN ON FORGIVENESS OF LOAN AND INCLUDED AS PART OF REVENUES IN THE ACCOMPANYING STATEMENT OF ACTIVITIES AND CHANGES IN NET ASSETS FOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2021. IN ADDITION, IN MARCH 2021, THE SCHOOL OBTAINED A SECOND PPP LOAN IN THE AMOUNT OF 1,418,188 UNDER SUBSTANTIALLY THE SAME TERMS AS THOSE APPLICABLE TO THE ORIGINAL PPP LOAN. ON NOVEMBER 13, 2021, THE SCHOOL RECEIVED THE FORMAL NOTIFICATION FROM THE SBA CONFIRMING THE FULL FORGIVENESS OF THE SECOND PPP LOAN, AS PROVIDED BY THE CARES ACT. IN MARCH 2020, THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION DECLARED THE CORONAVIRUS DISEASE COVID-19 A GLOBAL PANDEMIC. THIS HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS DISEASE SPREAD ACROSS THE WORLD AND INTO PUERTO RICO AND RESULTED IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT ENFORCED BUSINESS LOCKDOWNS AND CURFEWS ON NON-ESSENTIAL SERVICES, AS WELL AS OTHER RESTRICTIONS ON SOCIAL AND BUSINESS ACTIVITIES INVOLVING LARGE NUMBERS OF INDIVIDUALS AND/OR PARTICIPANTS, INCLUDING SCHOOL ATTENDANCE. IN ORDER TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE ITS ACADEMIC PROGRAMS AND SERVICES WHILE SUBJECT TO SUCH RESTRICTIONS, THE SCHOOL IMPLEMENTED ONLINE, VIRTUAL AND OTHER REMOTELY DELIVERED COURSES AND SESSIONS, AS WELL AS OTHER WEB-BASED APPLICATIONS. IN ADDITION, GOVERNMENTS AROUND THE WORLD HAVE IMPOSED SIMILAR RESTRICTIONS AFFECTING WORKFORCES, CUSTOMERS, AND ECONOMIES GLOBALLY, WHICH HAVE RESULTED IN SIGNIFICANT VOLATILITY IN THE FINANCIAL MARKETS AND MAY RESULT IN DISRUPTIONS IN THE PRODUCTION AND AVAILABILITY OF CERTAIN SUPPLIES AND SERVICES. ON MARCH 27, 2020, THE CORONAVIRUS AID, RELIEF, AND ECONOMIC SECURITY (CARES) ACT WAS ENACTED TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE TO INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, AND BUSINESSES AFFECTED BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. ALSO, IF THE EMPLOYER'S EMPLOYMENT TAX DEPOSITS ARE NOT SUFFICIENT TO COVER THE CREDIT, THE EMPLOYER MAY GET AN ADVANCE PAYMENT FROM THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE.
