Old Colony Hospice provides a comprehensive range of medical and psychosocial and spiritual services. We are dedicated to ensuring all patients and their families are at peace, treated with respect and dignity and that comfort is maintained at all times. Old Colony Hospice is also committed to supporting families after their loss through bereavement outreach and other organized program offerings. Old Colony Hospice also offers a comprehensive Palliative Care Program providing consultation services to physicians and healthcare providers to manage pain and other troubling symptoms of patients with complex medical conditions. All of the programs are offered to patients regardless of their ability to pay for care. No patient has been denied care based on financial resources. Old Colony Hospice practices the highest standards in hospice and palliative care. The organization has received consecutive accreditation from the Community Health Accreditation Program for over 10 years. Old Colony Hospice is a Level 5 provider (the highest accreditation possible) of the national We Honor Veterans program, which recognizes the organization's capabilities in serving the unique needs of America's Veterans and their families. Furthermore, Old Colony Hospice is a 4 time Hospice Honors Elite award recipient (2017, 2018, 2021, 2022) and a 2 time Hospice Honors award recipient (2019, 2020). Hospice Honors is a prestigious program recognizing hospices throughout the country that provide the highest levels of care as measured by the caregiver's point of view. 'Hospice Honors' includes hospices scoring above Deyta Analytics national average on 20 of 24 questions on an independent survey sent to all care-givers. Deyta also holds a special recognition, Hospice Honors Elite, to honor hospices scoring above the national average on all 24 (100%) of the evaluation questions. Our physicians and Nurse Practitioners make home, nursing home and hospital visits as needed. All our staff have received advanced national certification in their field and are available 24 hours a day to meet the needs of patients and families. In addition, Old Colony Hospice offers complementary services in combination with traditional medical therapies including Reiki, massage, music and pet therapy. In 2020, Old Colony Hospice opened The Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home. The home offers a comfortable home-like environment with residential care for patients who are seeking alternatives to a hospital, skilled nursing facility or who are unable to manage end of life care at home. The organization offers many special events including the Annual Memorial Walk in honor of loved ones lost and cared for by Old Colony Hospice. An extensive list of community education programs are also offered for members of the community. These presentations are always offered at no cost. Beyond caring for patients and families, the leadership team and staff give back to the community by volunteering, serving on local not-for-profit boards and participating in many community events. |
