28 THE ORGANIZATION CONDUCTS TRAINING FOR NEW SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER CANDIDATES IN AREAS OF FINANCE, BUDGET AND LEGAL ISSUES. AN ORIENTATION IS GIVEN, AS WELL AS GUIDANCE ON RUNNING FOR A SCHOOL BOARD POSITION. TOPICS SUCH AS RECRUITMENT AND OBTAINING ENDORSEMENTS ARE COVERED. THIS TRAINING IS DONE BY THE CURRENT GOVERNING BOARD OF THE ORGANIZATION, AS WELL AS A THIRD-PARTY CONSULTANT. TRAINING IS HELD AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS, BASED ON AVAILABILITY. ALL PAST TRAINING LOCATIONS HAVE BEEN IN THE GREATER PHOENIX, ARIZONA METROPOLITAN AREA.90 PERCENT OF THE ORGANIZATION'S TIME IS DEVOTED TO THIS TRAINING ACTIVITY, AND INCLUDES SUCH SPECIFIC ACTIVITITES AS PLANNING, DEVELOPING THE INVITATION LIST, WRITING TRAINING CONTENT, AND OVERALL MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS.FUNDING IS PROVIDED BY OTHER PARTNERING ORGANIZATIONS.THIS TRAINING ACTIVITY FURTHERS THE ORGANIZATION'S PURPOSE BY BUILDING ON THE ACUMEN AND CAPABILITIES OF INDIVIDUALS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THEIR RUN TO SIT ON SCHOOL DISTRICT GOVERNING BOARDS, AND OCCUPYING SEATS THAT INFLUENCE EQUITABLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR YOUNG SCHOLARS TO THRIVE AND BE SUCCESSFUL THROUGHOUT ARIZONA'S PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
