| Form 990, Part III, Line 4a | THE TUOMEY FOUNDATION CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD WITH OUR PLAN AND HAD SUCCESS IN BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS AND RAISING DOLLARS. SINCE 2001, THE TUOMEY FELLOWS PROGRAM HAS GIVEN BUSINESS AND VOLUNTEER LEADERS FROM THE COMMUNITY A BEHIND-THE-SCENES LOOK AT WHAT GOES ON AT PRISMA HEALTH TUOMEY AND IN HEALTHCARE IN GENERAL. PARTICIPANTS ATTEND HEALTHCARE-ORIENTED CLASS SESSIONS, FOCUSING ON EVERYTHING FROM SURGICAL SERVICES AND CARDIAC PROCEDURES TO ADMINISTRATION OF A COMMUNITY NONPROFIT HOSPITAL. IN ADDITION, THEY TOUR THE HOSPITAL AND OBSERVE ITS INTRICATE WORKINGS, FROM SURGERIES TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. BY THE TIME THEY GRADUATE, THEY ARE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE IN THE DAILY OPERATIONS OF PRISMA HEALTH TUOMEY AND ARE AMBASSADORS FOR THEIR COMMUNITY'S HOSPITAL. CLASS XXI OF THE TUOMEY FELLOWS PROGRAM WAS POSTPONED DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THIS CONTINUES TO BE A WONDERFUL AVENUE THROUGH WHICH THE FOUNDATION AND PRISMA HEALTH TUOMEY BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH LEADERS IN THE SUMTER COMMUNITY. TO DATE WE HAVE OVER 275 TUOMEY FELLOWS. THE TUOMEY FOUNDATION ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC IS ANOTHER EXCITING OPPORTUNITY TO SUPPORT THE TUOMEY FOUNDATION. HELD AT THE NEW QUIXOTE CLUB, THE GOLF CLASSIC FEATURES TEAMS COMPOSED OF PEOPLE FROM BUSINESSES AND COMPANIES THAT WORK WITH OR HAVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH PRISMA HEALTH TUOMEY. THIS FUND, WHICH IS OVERSEEN BY THE TUOMEY FOUNDATION BOARD OF GOVERNORS, ALLOWS THE FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT VARIOUS PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS UNDERTAKEN BY PRISMA HEALTH TUOMEY, SUCH AS CAMP SCAMP, SAFE KIDS, WELLNESS SCREENINGS AND MORE. THE ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC DID NOT TAKE PLACE DURING 2020 DUE TO THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC. THE 2021 FESTIVAL OF TREES RAISED MONEY FOR TUOMEY HOSPICE. THOUSANDS OF SUMTER AREA RESIDENTS CAME TO VIEW THE TREES AND $51,000 WAS RAISED FROM THE EVENT. THE ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF TREES HAS QUICKLY BECOME A HOLIDAY TRADITION FOR SUMTER COUNTY RESIDENTS. THIS WONDERFUL EVENT, WHICH IS OPEN TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY, FEATURES CHRISTMAS TREES THAT ARE SPONSORED AND DECORATED BY LOCAL BUSINESSES AND ORGANIZATIONS. THE TREES ARE PLACED THROUGHOUT TUOMEY SYSTEM AND DOWNTOWN SHOPS. THESE BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED TREES WERE ON DISPLAY THE ENTIRE MONTH OF DECEMBER. MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE BEAUTY OF THE FESTIVAL OF TREES, THOUGH, IS ITS BENEFICIARY - TUOMEY HOSPICE SERVICES. FUNDS RAISED THROUGH THESE SPONSORSHIPS GO TOWARD THIS INCREDIBLE PROGRAM. HOSPICE ALLOWS PATIENTS TO SPEND THEIR FINAL DAYS WITH DIGNITY, SURROUNDED BY THEIR LOVED ONES. OUR GOAL IS TO PROVIDE A HOSPICE UNIT THAT WILL BE A PLACE OF SHELTER AND REST FOR TERMINAL PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THIS UNIT WILL ALLOW A PATIENT TO RECEIVE THE COMFORT AND CARE NEEDED DURING A SPECIFIC TIME AND ENABLE FAMILY MEMBERS TO HAVE A RESPITE FROM THEIR DAILY CARE ROUTINE. THIS YEAR, WE CONTINUED A TRADITION THAT WAS STARTED LAST YEAR: TUOMEY FELLOW SPONSORED TREES. FELLOW GRADUATES WERE ABLE TO SHOW THEIR CLASS PRIDE AND CONTRIBUTE. TOGETHER, THEY WERE ABLE TO HAVE TWO TREES ON DISPLAY. IN CONJUNCTION WITH OUR FESTIVAL OF TREES, THE CIRCLE OF LIGHTS RAISED MONEY WHICH ALSO BENEFITS TUOMEY HOSPICE SERVICES. THROUGH THE CIRCLE OF LIGHTS YOU MAY SYMBOLICALLY PURCHASE A LIGHT OR A STRAND OF LIGHTS ON THE CHRISTMAS TREE IN FRONT OF THE HOSPITAL IN HONOR OR IN MEMORY OF A FRIEND OR LOVED ONE. AFTER THE FOUNDATION RECEIVES YOUR CIRCLE OF LIGHTS CONTRIBUTION ALONG WITH THE NAMES AND ADDRESSES OF EACH INDIVIDUAL YOU WOULD LIKE TO HONOR OR MEMORIALIZE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON, WE WILL SEND YOU A TAX DEDUCTIBLE RECEIPT FOR YOUR RECORDS AND NOTIFY YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS OF THE THOUGHTFUL GESTURE YOU HAVE MADE IN THEIR HONOR OR IN MEMORY OF A LOVED ONE. ONE PERSON MAY BE HONORED OR MEMORIALIZED FOR EACH LIGHT PURCHASED THROUGH THE CIRCLE OF LIGHTS. THE ANNUAL SUMTER ARTS SHOWCASE, IN CONJUNCTION WITH MISS LIBBY'S SCHOOL OF DANCE, RAISES MONEY FOR TUOMEY'S WOMEN AND CHILDREN'S SERVICES. THE PROCEEDS ARE DESIGNATED FOR THE ENHANCEMENT OF INFANT AND NEWBORN CARE IN THE NURSERIES AT PRISMA HEALTH TUOMEY. THE SUMTER ARTS SHOWCASE WAS AGAIN A GREAT SUCCESS FOR THE TUOMEY PRIDE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN FUND. THIS EVENT NOT ONLY PROVIDES FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO THE FOUNDATION, BUT ALSO PROVIDES AN INVALUABLE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE THE MISSION AND FOCUS OF BOTH TUOMEY AND THE FOUNDATION TO THE SUMTER COMMUNITY. ALSO, GOING INTO ITS THIRTEENTH YEAR, THE GOVERNOR'S CIRCLE WAS DESIGNED AS A WAY FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE ROTATED OFF OF THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS TO STAY CONNECTED TO THE FOUNDATION AND THE HOSPITAL. THERE ARE NO OBLIGATIONS OR DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH MEMBERSHIP IN THE GOVERNOR'S CIRCLE; IT IS PURELY A WAY FOR FORMER BOARD MEMBERS TO STAY INVOLVED AS ADVISORS AND ADVOCATES. AS OF NOW, THERE ARE ABOUT 22 MEMBERS IN THE GOVERNOR'S CIRCLE. THE FOUNDATION LOOKS FORWARD TO THE CONTINUED GROWTH OF THIS EXCITING PROGRAM. THE FOUNDATION BOARD AND STAFF CONTINUED TO FOCUS ON THE TUOMEY SOCIETY ($1,000 AND ABOVE DONORS) GIVING LEVEL, AND SUCCESSFULLY CULTIVATED 150 TUOMEY SOCIETY DONORS. OUR PLANNED GIVING PROGRAM CONTINUES TO BE PROMOTED WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY. AN ADVISORY COUNCIL HAS BEEN MEETING AND WORKING HARD TO HELP PROMOTE AND SECURE ESTATE/PLANNED GIFTS FOR PRISMA HEALTH TUOMEY. THE 1913 LEGACY CIRCLE CONTINUES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THOSE MAKING A PLANNED GIFT. THE TUOMEY FOUNDATION 57-1041691 GIFT OR ESTABLISHING AN ENDOWMENT FOR PRISMA HEALTH TUOMEY HOSPITAL. THE FOUNDATION'S TRIBUTE PROGRAMS CONTINUED TO BE A SIGNIFICANT SOURCE OF DONATIONS, ESPECIALLY FOR THE HOSPICE FUND. THE FOUNDATION'S ENDOWED FUNDS ARE MORE FREQUENTLY BEING DESIGNATED FOR MEMORIAL GIFTS, AS WELL. |
| Form 990, Part VI, Line 15 | THE ORGANIZATION DOES NOT DIRECTLY COMPENSATE ANY OFFICER, DIRECTOR, OR KEY EMPLOYEE; HOWEVER, COMPENSATION OF THE TOP EXECUTIVES PAID BY PRISMA HEALTH-MIDLANDS IS DETERMINED BY AN OUTSIDE COMPENSATION CONSULTANT, WHICH IS THEN APPROVED BY THE BOARD. |
