Explanation:

It was only recently, when receiving a CP59A Failure to File a Required Tax Return notice for the 2021 yearly filing that it was discovered that a return had also not been filed for the tax year 2020. There is no record of having ever received any notice of failure to file for the 2020 tax year. The WETC is small member association that is overseen by volunteers and a small board of directors. The COVID and Post COVID years of 2021 created a certain amount of disconnection and confusion and it appears that it was a simple oversight on the part of those responsible for the filing. We understand that there is need for a penalty to be assessed for late filing, however we respectfully ask that some leniency be granted due to the fact that there are no tax monies due and that this was a simple oversight during the COVID pandemic years with no intent to avoid filing.
