What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? Mutual help war-time veteran association fostering veteran rehabilitation, Americanism, children and youth, and patriotic activities.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 The Bergen County American Legion (BCAL) is the intermediate body between the local 39 Bergen County Posts and the American Legion Department of NJ. BCAL has assisted as a Laison between the two, for the purpose of promoting American Legion programs, including veterans' rehabilitation, children & youth activities, Americanism and patriotic programs, community outreach, as well as serving its 2993 members (2022 membership year) within Bergen County. While BCAL has some supervisory power over local posts in Bergen County, our primary purpose is to promote, stimulate, and coordinate American Legion programs so the posts' work is made more efficient.
