Through the successful programs of VFW Unmet needs, these initiatives make an incredible difference for our Combat Veterans and their families: Our Troop support program is highlighted by our partnerships with active-duty reserve component and National Guard units in the KC metro area and their Family Readiness Organizations. Events include recognitions ceremonies, organizational days, Welcome Home from Deployment Activities and support to Gold Star Families. Our community services programs encompass scholarships for Middle and High School aged youth through Voice of Democracy (VOD) and Patriots Pen (PP). We also recognize excellence in our scouting, teaching and law enforcement through our scout, teacher and LEO of the year community service.
