990-PF, PART VIII-A: SUMMARY OF DIRECT CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES 990-PF, PART VIII-A: SUMMARY OF DIRECT CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES Line 1, Math Readiness Initiative Evaluation: $53,863 The Math Readiness Initiative is a state-wide pilot program launched to ensure students are ready for college-level math. This initiative currently includes four Nebraska community colleges (Metropolitan Community College, Southeast Community College, Western Nebraska Community College, and Northeast Community College) working collectively with 62 high schools across the state. The program, which was initially approved for a three-year grant in March 2018 (and a one-year extension in December 2020), most recently received approval for a 3-year grant in December 2021 to fund 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-2025. The initiative first included up to $300,000 to hire an evaluator co-selected by the Foundation and grantees to measure impact on student success and help the college partners improve program design and delivery. A second evaluation proposal of up to $170,000 was approved December 2021 to extend the evaluation by 36 months (September 15, 2022 - September 15, 2025). The evaluation of the Nebraska Math Readiness Initiative contributes to the goals of the College Access and Success portfolio by measuring the impact of the state-wide initiative towards improving high school students' math readiness and its correlation to improved student outcomes at the post-secondary level. The program results indicate improved student outcomes and the participating community colleges wish to scale this intervention to other high schools across the state in the coming years.
