Explanation:
According to the online service Form 990 Online, our original filing on May 14 was rejected because our organization type (501(c)4) did not match the IRS Master File, which purportedly has us as a (c)7. We sent correspondence to the IRS in May with copies of our determination letter dated Sept. 1980 confirming that we are a (c)4. We just received a response (6 months later) from the IRS confirming the same, but with no explanation as to why the Master File shows us as a (c)7. Our organization type has never been questioned in all the years we have submitted returns, so there was no reason for us to expect a rejection or this delay. Furthermore, we called to check the status and were told to wait for the letter.
