	Advocacy AAEI fully engages the federal government on behalf of the entire trade community, made up of U.S. importers and exporters and the companies that serve the trade. The Association monitors the activities of congress, the executive branch, and federal court decisions proposes legislation and regulatory actions to reduce administrative burdens and improve transparancy, efficiency and predictability in government agencies that regulate cross-border trade and briefs or testifies before policymakers, congressional committees, regulatory agencies and courts on such issues as supply chain security, product safety and elimination of foreign barriers to U.S. exports. AAEI brings members views and concerns to the attention of administrators and policy makers via a framework of eleven standing issue-oriented committees ranging from supply chain security, customs and export complaince and facilitation to product safety.

AAEI also conducts one of the most comprehensive annual benchmarking surveys on international trade. All importers, exporters and service providers are invited to participate and the results provide high level views of industry practices and trades, as well as baseline information pertinent to business and professional development.

Each member has an individual who serves as primary contact, who may, at their discretion, add additional individuals to the Associations list to receive communications.
