ASMP PROMOTES PHOTOGRAPHER'S RIGHTS, EDUCATES PHOTOGRAPHERS IN BETTER BUSINESS PRACTICES, PRODUCES BUSINESS PUBLICATIONS FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS AND HELPS BUYERS FIND PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS. With a large contingent of nature photographers, ASMP operates programming to promote the art and science of nature photography as a medium of communication, nature appreciation, and environmental protection; provides information, education, inspiration, and opportunity for all persons interested in nature photography; and fosters excellence and ethical conduct in all aspect of our endeavors and especially encourages responsible photography in the wild. Part III, Line 1a: If organization elected under SFAS 116 to not report are, historical treasures, o The Society owns a vast and unique physical archives, housed near Washington, D.C., consisting of letters, documents, and some photographs covering many of the most important photographers of the last 100 years, but despite substantial work towards doing so, we have yet to secure a reportable valuation for this collection. We hope to have one by our next 990 filing.

Form 990, Part III, Line 2 At the end of 2022, as part of a contractual arrangement with the North American Nature Photographers Association (NANPA), ASMP became responsible for a wide range of NANPA programs and events, including but not limited to the NANPA Summit, the Showcase Competition, as well as regional, field, and workshop events all focused on nature photography.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b AFTER THE FISCAL YEAR END, THE FINANCIAL AND OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION IS PROVIDED TO THE INDEPENDENT CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT FOR REVIEW AND PREPARATION OF THE FORM 990. ONCE THIS PROCESS IS COMPLETE, THE FIRST DRAFT OF THE FORM 990 IS REVIEWED BY THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND THE GENERAL COUNSEL. UPON THEIR APPROVAL, THE FORM 990 IS SIGNED BY THE APPROPRIATE NON PROFIT OFFICIAL AND THE RETURN IS FILED.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c Each year the organization's General Counsel provides training to the Directors and all Key Employees on identifying and disclosing conflicts, including providing procedures and forms to accomplish these tasks. Throughout the year, General Counsel confers with all Directors and employees when issues that may indicate a conflict may arise. This evaluation is regularly updated and modified as needed.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15a The CEO's compensation is set by a detailed written employment contract, with any increases to the base salary or compensation metrics subject to the terms of that contract and the approval of the Board of Directors. Upon the CEO's hiring, comparable data of other photography trade association CEOs and executive directors were reviewed, as well as the previous executive director's compensation, and the special skill set and credentials brought by the CEO.
